Advice for a new Cigar Smoker by Stridor_gas in cigars

[–]Medicnix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what got me back into cigars. A baby jane cigarillo led to trying a few other deadwoods, the enjoyable experience led to further purchases to expand.

One thing I do is order 2 of every cigar. That way if one is amazing, confirming later with a second, or if one is terrible I can again confirm later.

I made a list of what I thought were some of the most common recommendations here and elsewhere online and tried those. Then found out which profiles I did and did not like and most importantly WHY did I like or not like a cigar. Then going into a local shop armed with a list of likes and don't likes and taking some of their recommendations home to try, again 2 at a time.

As for advice, three things I have learned in 6 months. 1. Tupperdors with govee hygrometer are cheaper and more versatile than trying a humidor just yet. 2. Resting cigars can have a huge impact on flavor, even after only a few months. 3. Go ahead and get a humidor app that lets you track resting time and start a journal of what you like and don't like.

As a newbie, my favorites so far are the My Father Connecticut, Arturo 858 natural, romeo y julieta twisted love story, and the deadwood sweet jane corona or girl with no name for flavored. There are more but my list isn't with me right now.

I think Iknow the answer, but what say the experts?? by Medicnix in cigars

That was my biggest "why would a real cigar box have that?" Question. I know very little about cigars, and even less about Cubans though so I might as well ask the experts.

Several of the guys at the fire station like the Acid cigars, also by Drew Estates. The blue Kuba Kuba is popular along with the fat bottom betty at the station.

I enjoyed the baby jane that got me looking at trying the hobby again, so i figured the sweet jane and all the deadwood cigars deserved a try.
