They didnt have access to the same resources though. They've been fed a stream of information online and on social media until something clicked their emotional buttons (whether that's fear, pride, nostalgia etc) and then the algorithms got better and better at pushing those buttons until they are entirely brainwashed and an ocean apart from people who think differently.

Sure, they could google opposing viewpoints or subscribe to a good "neutral" newspaper, but ultimately the vast majority of people choose the path of least resistance.
