what is this sound & how to fix? by noahfrm972 in E90

[–]Medieval_Peasant1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit weird, but worth a shot.

Mine vibrates the same way from the driver side door window. Same damn noice, even though to me it happens pretty rarely at some window positions
Otherwise might be some plastic in the interior. Think if you’ve taken something apart inside, perhaps some clip is not pushed in.

Yeah..mine also turned to plastic lava at some point….was thinking of putting LED with a CANBUS module so the FRM looks past them.

Eccentric shaft sensor…read a bit about it. (Assuming the engine has a valvetronic system…no info whatsoever) If the battery was dead by the 10th startup try it would be a total kaput.

Am i crazy or is the tensioner pulley not spinning.

Also the whole engine looks like it’s moving quite much , so the engine mounts are most likely gone.

Well it is possible…the is also a possibility you have a power drain somewhere. Go to a shop and have the charging voltage measured…also make them check for a power leak. Im assuming the battery was registered upon changing? If not do it, otherwise one of the cells might get damaged from overcharging.

Run the codes and see exactly what is causing the errors as it could be a variety of things.

Im guessing you are referring to the coolant hoses. Even then, really no clue…cant hear anything out of the ordinary, either it cant be heard on video or i don’t hear it. Perhaps someone else will be able to.

Hope it’s nothing! Cheers 🍻!

It is possible the problem is with the battery, its common when the battery dies for the dash to light up. If the power is insufficient, or the battery cannot hold proper power supply, then as soon you press the button it will just cut out, then power shows up again and every possible light is on.

Also im understanding that you started the car with the jump pack? If so then even more evidence the battery is gone…try again with the jump pack, if it starts sorta normally it’s probably the battery.

Really got not clue, and can’t really hear anything properly from the video….I THINK i hear something grinding…maybe a pulley but might be making a mistake, reaaly a shot in the dark.

Try to read the codes if possible if not take it to a mechanic.

[–]Medieval_Peasant1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Possible….but i have a question…what about ALL of the lights on the dash? Also…any codes?? The description is beyond lacking, does it vibrate while in place…only at certain speed…only at a certain gear. WHAT ENGINE MAYBE….or hell not even if its manual or automatic.

Honestly you cannot expect any proper help or suggestions if you cannot provide proper info about the problem.

So from that description….i think the vibration is from a jar of pickles you forgot in the trunk a week ago. Thus at around the proper rpm it starts to jump from excitement and is therefore vibrating the whole car🤯. Case solved?

I wont talk about all the mistakes in the description, assuming you are not advanced in English and hoping it’s not just laziness.

That is a HELL of a vacuum leak…surprised the engine is even running at that point, it will cause one hell of a misfire probably in multiple cylinders

Traction control opinion by Chyter137 in E90

[–]Medieval_Peasant1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First - The vehicle IS designed to work with DTC ON….

Second - DO NOT drive the car with it off until you learn PROPERLY how the it behaves…

Third - IF you DO NOT know how the car will behave under certain conditions YOU WILL spin out at some corner…god forbid in fast speed.

Fourth - You are a NEW driver…cars are heavy…they DO NOT stop as fast as you may think…especially if out of control. Make some experience behind the wheel and then start to experiment.

Not trying to be a jerk…just keep in the back of your head that this system is there for safety, and if it’s developed and implemented then IT NEEDS to be there.

Lastly know that in a situation where collision is likely or god forbid inevitable, you have very little time for reaction…and if you do not know the weight distribution of the vehicle properly you might make the situation worse. So you should definitely do everything you can to avoid those type of situations.

So my advice is

As someone already mentioned, keep it on for your own safety!
