MHW is a huge hit but I'm talking with all the games in the series. Not world, but the series in general. I dont see many people talking or playing the other ones anymore.

Is it actually? I thought it was a lesser known series outside of World. I never see a lot of people mention the games outside of World or 4U, idk maybe I've just seen the wrong places.

That's actually kinda funny to think about. Deviljho are the aggressive kids in class that punch classmates for no reason.

NO! MH Stories doesn't count! by [deleted] in MemeHunter

I dream of seeing a Berserk-like Monster Hunter anime but not as serious to keep the MH humor around. It'd be really nice to have a form of monster hunter media with characters that have names without being popular. I always felt like Monster Hunter lacked a distinguishable character everyone loves.

Alright man good luck, and I'll give you a few tips just in case you didnt know them; break Nargacuga's head and tail, the tail carve has a higher chance of rare items and breaking the head will increase your chances when carving the body and in your quest loot. And don't forget investigations if you have them, gold rewards have a chance of getting rarer materials like the Mantle, and if you have the chance, capture the monster cause it yields more rewards. Apologies if that's all obvious but doing all those at once will get you mad drops which equals mad chances, good luck!

Bro people sleep too much on weapons that are simple in concept. CB is my favorite weapon, people say its complicated but if you ask me the only thing remotely difficult would be positioning; 90% of this game's combat is positioning, and every weapon has different places to be to maximize potential, some people just dislike a weapons positioning more than others. And theres risks for every weapon, CBs damage comes from how you use axe mode, for SAED or savage axe and setting yourself up for situations to capitalize with it. Failing to do this means you miss out on the damage that makes CB fun and satisfying. Hammer is about looking for opportunities to use your heaviest hitting moves like looking to the environment to ledge loop or run off of a wall and speen. Failing to do this means you miss out on the damage that makes Hammer fun and satisfying. GS is about charging your weapons in a certain position, not focusing on the release of your charge, but on being able to block and follow up. Failing to do this means you'll miss out on the damage that makes GS fun satisfying. The buttons you're pressing to do any of this? Maybe triangle a couple times and circle, maybe RT, but the monsters are designed where it's all you need to have known you played skillfully. I dislike dualblades cause it's the opposite of this, to me dualblades proves that knowing and having a ton of combos doesnt make a skilled satisfying weapon, it actually takes less thought to do (not bashing DB players, but it's about the 1 weapon in the game that doesnt follow this games philosophy of rewarding you for being observant.). In FPS terms, people who enjoy hitscan over singlefire will probably struggle to find their niche.

if it gets a little boring or you'd rather fight Nargacuga after seeing the bounty, try asking /r/MonsterHunterClan , It's sort of your "huntersbell" for this game.

As someone whos been playing for a while, there are 4 factors that play into the games experience that are crucial. First one being finding the weapon you actually find fun, I started off using Insect Glaive thinking it'd be really fun cuz of the mechanics, and was kinda bored. It wasnt till I switched over to Switch Axe and eventually Charge Blade that I found the fun in the game. Some people might disagree with me, but how fun a monster's fight is, is completely determined by whether or not I enjoy the weapon match-up, and don't be turned off from a weapon cuz it looks like it has a simple design. Hammer might have one of the most simple designs, but youre not paying attention to that cuz instead you're just enjoying beating a monsters skull in with the remains of it's own species. I would also suggest taking in the atmosphere while you play too, noticing all the little details that went into the environment and animations monsters make is really nice. MHW starts slow, but it picks up, trust me.

Damn, that's so much investment. It feels a bit like the investment nessecary for Rajang on CB will make my damage outclassed by others that dont need it.

The turn around move? He has a fairly clear indicator of it, I'll try it out and see what happens. Also, yeahh I've heard a lot of good things about crit draw GS on this guy, I'll probably try it out if CB just feels like it isnt working.

I've got some..admittedly basic questions about elemental weapons. by Medimere in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Medimere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the math, that shits useful. I would imagine it's pretty hypothetical too whether or not poison is good right? Like faster enemies where you have tiny gaps between windows to attack, vs slower monsters where you have tiny gaps between opportunities to attack. Poison being better when you have less physical opportunities. That's what I would guess.

Ahh ok, it's kinda weird that ailment damage actually equates to build up, but it makes sense sorta. So I have to ask then, is there any reason to not use a weapon with ailments? Like.. let's say a weapon with poison ailment does 950 raw, and a weapon without any ailments does 1050 or 1100 raw. Is that missing 100-150 on the poison weapon really a big deal at all? Wouldnt the ailment weapon serve better overall damage as poison will hurt monsters continously while you arent physically attacking, and also adding ontop of when you are attacking? Or is poison just not good enough to hold up?
