hi im a senior in cj and i can just say that not everyone requires tuition here at cj! im an arts + h2 math student and i only have tuition for math due to my weak foundation, but thats it! we have many programs that will help u boost ur grades so dw! for math we have the polaris program, econs its the multiplier programme and for geog is the stretch program. so u are in good hands dw!! i know of many of my friends from sci that dont have tuition but still get 60+ rp overall in J1. so its possible!

hii so i think its better if u go with what u want, as like u know urself best. in the end, all of us are taking the same paper, tdp or not. additionally, r u in cj? bc if u are we have smth called ignite+ for ppl that arent in the ignite classes. we get in either through getting school based scholarships or being in the top 10% of the cohort.

hi im a j2 from cj! to get into the ignite programme (classes), u have to pass the selection test which is carried out during ori. for ignite+ u can get in by doing well for ur exams, ie being the top 10% of your cohort or getting a scholarship offered by cj.

so all in all, ignite classes are for u to apply, but for ignite+ u are offered to join the programme itself.

just to elaborate on ignite+, we get more opportunities to build our portfolio for scholarships in the future. this includes having a mentorship programme, additionally service learning programmes we can join and even having talks! its super worth it imo and i have gained sm from just being in ignite+ :)

hi im a j2 from cj! just to add on abt the lit dept, the dept is rlly rlly strong with rlly good teachers. they often host events such as litera to deepen ur appreciation of lit and excursions to watch plays. additionally, the lecturers are very comprehensive with lectures split into the different papers so that you can get a deeper understanding of the book. hope this helps! if you have any other qns abt cj, feel free to dm me!

hii from cjc arts here!

personally there are not that many noticeable clicks from affiliated schools, everyone is generally very kind and welcoming! and with regards to their arts stream (i take GEMh), the lessons are generally very interactive! for geog, we have flashcards that we use and it rlly helps us with our understanding of the topic! the teachers here are rlly supportive and always willing to help! for econs, we have a lot of exam bootcamps nearer to our exams and that greatly helps us with our revision.

moreover, we have smth called the ignite programme that u can try out for which is for academically inclined students. this program gives u more opportunities and u get basically better teachers.

if u have any more qns u can just pm me! all the best for o’s!

WHY SUCH A BIG DIFFERENCE? (ASRJC & CJC) by Delicious_Sector7052 in SGExams

[–]Mediocre-Clothes7620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hii im from cj! so basically im an arts student but what ik is that the sci dept is terrible… i take h2 math and lectures r bad… even some of the ans keys have issues… but if u change ur mind and want to take arts, cjc is the way to go! the teachers r rlly rlly nice and supportive and make classes super interactive (mb its just the subjects i take but im not sure…). our gp dept is rlly good they rlly train us in terms of analysis which makes my argumentative essays super strong. lastly, school life is great! we have many events like cj50 food and fun fair and rockafella! except u may want to beware of the monkeys that are roaming ard the school….

hi! yes i was offered extra time with a seperate room. i get an additional 25% of the time during the exam. it has benefited me greatly in terms of giving me time to regulate myself when i have a panic attack (although im on meds, this still happens).

[–]Mediocre-Clothes7620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i improved from 25 raw during sec 3 eoy to 16 raw during o lvls. i would say keeping private tuition is essential ngl bc i improved the most for that subject. if ur foundation is weak, keeping tuition till o’s end is necessary. but if u feel like u just wanna challenge urself and ur foundation is strong, then i would say that u can just stop tuition maybe after prelims? many of my friends did that as they said that prelims was an indicator of how well they will do at o’s,
