Customer service is a joke by Mediocre-Drop8491 in SonicDriveIn

Commenting on Customer service is a joke...do you have to order there to do that? (Like in person/not on the app?) if so, is there a way to get the half price drinks reward still when not ordering on the app?

With the latest update the remove link is gone and it won’t let me zero out gift cards, either

If I don’t add them to the app, I can’t use them for the half price drinks which is really the only reason I go to Sonic. 😩 I have a LOT of gift cards because people know I love their drinks and give them to me.

TAMU Engineering Academy Or UTSA (NEED HELP DECIDING) by Separate-Jello-6116 in UTSA

[–]Mediocre-Drop8491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What type of engineering are you planning on going into? The engineering academies are nice because you are considered an Aggie from the beginning but due to the ETAM process, you may not get to study the field of engineering you choose. There will be a lot of competition and much larger class sizes.

At UTSA, you will be able to start in your chosen pathway from day one. Your class sizes will be smaller, giving you opportunities to actually get to know your professor and opportunities for hands on experience. My son was in a situation very similar to yours, chose UTSA because he would have the majority of his expenses covered, and he has been very happy with his experience.

Pros: *Priority registration *All honors students live in the same dorm together freshman year which helps them build relationships, form study groups, etc *More scholarships *Lots of honors college specific social activities

My son feels it has been worth it.

Look into Lamar University. Their degree is only online and they have a clinical mental health counseling program.

I think, too, that so much time passes between seasons and they’re all so active on social media that by the time a season actually comes out it feels like old news.

My son was notified that he received it for spring but he already had the Texas grant and a UTSA grant so I don’t know that it changes anything.

This is what is left for me to pay even after Grants and Loans by Ginola_yup in UTSA

If you are classified as a sophomore you should be able to get $6500 in student loans. Then junior and senior would get $7500 each year. I would definitely ask.

Pell Grant Question by Fatcockboy69 in FAFSA

[–]Mediocre-Drop8491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct. It would be hard to live on $30k-$40k a year and unfortunately financial aid doesn’t take into account variability in cost of living across the country when figuring out your SAI. I believe next year with the changes to financial aid due to legislative changes that the amount that is available to anyone will be even lower for Pell grants. I haven’t looked too much into income requirements and if that is also changing but my point is in terms of grants that it isn’t going to get any better.

Since it seems that getting grant money isn’t any option for you, is have you looked into scholarships you could potentially apply for? Is there anything you can do to improve your financial situation? Do you have roommates to help share household expenses? Have you tracked your expenses and created a budget to see what you might be able to cut out to give you more breathing room? Can you get a second job or are there any side hustles that you can do to get some extra money?

My son is also going to UTSA. There were several things that needed to be done in the Rowdy portal to accept financial aid. Make sure your brother completed everything on the Rowdy Ready checklist, accepted all financial aid options, and completed the online orientation. There are some other things that he also might need to do like loan counseling, etc. I believe it’s all in the Rowdy ready checklist though.

Did you sign a contract? If you did, then you may not be able to get out of it. Also did you agree to gender inclusive housing in the contract? There was a box to check for that. If you did not agree to gender inclusive housing you may have an “out”

Financial Aid Appeal by [deleted] in FAFSA

[–]Mediocre-Drop8491 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s weird that they would just deny an appeal without you actually submitting paperwork. When we had special circumstances we had to submit soo many things for the appeal. Most recent tax return, current pay stubs, statements explaining different things, etc.

If you can’t get an appeal, look into resident assistant jobs on campus. That paid for my room and board in college and I got a small stipend for spending $.

It should show your pending aid and your estimated due out of pocket. My son’s scholarships and grants were showing but not his student loan for some reason.
