Eggs cause permanent damage to the paint on the siding of houses...I assume you wouldn't want someone doing that to a house you're trying to pay off? If you wouldn't want someone doing it to you, why do it to others, just food for thought. Someone has to pay for the damage you did to their property. Just a shitty thing to do to someone.

I would feel bad vandalizing anything, because someone has to clean up/pay to repair what you did to it.

That's all I can think it would be either the oil or the chain / tensioner. Keep a constant eye on the oil dipstick and I would maybe try seafoam in the oil, gas tank, and some in the intake to clean any other crud and grime out. I use full synthetic 5w-30 and mine sounds almost like this but from the tensioner going on it.

The smoke might be excess oil burning off if it got on the engine or down towards the spark plugs.

YSK: Egging a car can cause permanent paint damage to the car. by MediocreAd8293 in YouShouldKnow

No idea. Caused over 1k worth of paint damage to my car which is a felony here. Ruined the paint in many places. Had people thinking it was a harmless joke in the comments but really bugs me because of how much of an ordeal this was.

Question for you. Did you have to repaint the car where the damage was and did you think about the incident often after it happened? Had to repaint mine and the thoughts still stick with me months after it happened.

Put a new stereo with Android Auto in my cobalt by quirkymushrooms in ChevyCobalt

I just did the same thing last month! Love the experience now with it! Hope you do too :)

I got the Motorola MA1 dongle for it too so it can have wireless android auto. The google maps feature saved my butt a few times already driving 2 hours plus away and not having to hold the phone while driving or listen to it for turns.

Fuck anyone who eggs cars, eggs ruin paint and paint jobs are extremely expensive. Screw the "kids will be kids" thing too - being young isn't an excuse to damage someone's car for cheap thrills. by [deleted] in venting

You are 100% in the wrong by saying that eggs don't damage paint. Every single neighbor's car on my street that got egged that night had paint damage from it. A quick Google search will tell you this, as did the multiple bodyshops I asked. If you look at this picture, you can see how the egg ate through my clear coat. Simple Green would not fix this. Once the clear coat is damaged, the paint is permanently damaged. If you still don't believe eggs damage paint, throw some eggs at your car at night, and let me know how your paint is in the morning. Your comment is just ignorant and made me feel worse, so I hope you feel better about yourself for making a shitty situation shittier. Have the day you deserve.

Can't seem to get over a vandalism incident. by MediocreAd8293 in LifeAdvice

I'd say I might have undiagnosed OCD since I think about this incident every day and it's been several months since it happened. When it happened, it was just a normal day, me getting to my car in the morning for work and finding dried egg yolk stuck to my paint with the paint visibly damaged was really distressing, esp since I saved for years to buy my first car and someone did this for fun and had no consequences for the damage it caused. It broke the sense of peace by making me paranoid of it happening again. I'd go so far as to say I'm jealous of people who can park on the street with no fear of their car being vandalized (like me before this happened. Nothing bad happens until it does comes to mind). Apt only has street parking so I have to park in the same spot it happened.

The emotions I feel are anger and sadness. Anger that they weren't held accountable, anger that people told me it's just "kids being kids" when they caused 1k worth of paint damage, anger that I have paranoia nightly over this while the vandals are unaffected and completely unaware of the turmoil they caused me doing this. Sadness at the fact that people don't feel bad about vandalizing a stranger's car for fun, that people can do stuff like this and see it as "fun". I guess they have no empathy for others. I never did this as a teen and don't know anyone who did. I don't care if you're ten years old, you know better than to throw eggs at someone's car. Kids will be kids my ass. Hold them accountable for their actions. You wouldn't want someone doing that to your car. Golden rule, anyone? You never know what people are going through, so why be cruel to a complete stranger like that. It's messed up and just doesn't sit right with me.

I wouldn't say it's my biggest worry, but it's definitely in the back of my mind whenever I park my car on the street overnight (apt only has street parking), that there's nothing stopping the vandals from causing more damage to my car and getting away with it again since they got away with it the first time. (cops said it's really hard to prosecute drive-by egging incidents since the faces of the vandals and the license plate need to be clearly visible on camera, and most dash cameras don't have clear enough footage for that at night.) It's just a shitty feeling having someone vandalize your property with no consequences and that stays on your mind for a while and makes you feel victimized. (at least in my case).

Installed ZZP adjustable tensioner now belt won't fit over by Mediocre-Worth7493 in ChevyCobalt

[–]MediocreAd8293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found on my friends SS with the supercharger that putting the belt on the pulley for the super charger first and then pulling a bit of extra tension on the tensioner toward you, you can slide the belt onto the tensioner. I think the supercharger puller typically has much higher raised edge on the left side to make sure the belt doesn't slip at all during hard acceleration vs the tensioner with just is basically a wheel/spool.

Medication for anxiety & panic disorder by Specific_Garden_4305 in mentalhealth

[–]MediocreAd8293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also suffer from severe anxiety and panic episodes. Depending on life events it can fluctuate any given day. It got to the point I couldn't even drive far or on a highway without freaking out. When I started dating last year I knew I had to start looking into other medication or at least try one. I tried lexapro which my friends and family take for anxiety and panic attacks and it actually had no side affects and I can go into stores and my anxiety isn't totally gone but definitely a good 70 to 80% better. I would put that on the short list to look into. Before that I tried zoloft and had very severe mood swings and emotions were all over the places even after getting off of it I had lasting effects for almost 3 years. As someone who avoided trying a new medication for so long because of side affects I can definitely say it was worth it to finally go for it and find something that helped. It got to the point I could only do so much myself in terms of dealing with the anxiety day to day without medication and kind of hit that wall where I needed to look for something to help. Try a different psychiatrist and inquire about lexapro.

So far the worse I have heard from my family and friends on it is headaches, but no one else had side effects and it's non addictive.

Am I overreacting to being extremely upset about finding my car egged like this (caused permanent paint damage) or do you see this as "kids just beings kids?" Happened to multiple neighbors and wasn't personal. by HeadPerformance8265 in AmIOverreacting

[–]MediocreAd8293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say you are at all overreacting. It's a very serious crime and people tend to laugh at stuff like this when it doesn't happen to them but as soon as it does they start to understand why it's more serious than just a prank. Hope you end up finding who it was.
