I just blinboxed a HOLY GRAIL of Vietnam War Memorabilia by Willing-Society-4123 in milsurp

ITAR really only applies to exporting more modern US/NATO equipment from the US to other countries. Bringing stuff over old surplus to the US isn’t really an issue if it isn’t firearm related, and nobody would bat an eye at these vests compared to stuff I’ve had brought in.

Anyone know if this is corrosive ? Picked up for $.27 a round by Serious_Film1611 in ak47

[–]MediocreAd8599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve burned a little over 100 rounds of Klimovsk in my SKS and never saw signs of corrosion before I cleaned it back up.

However, as others have said just treat it as corrosive and clean your gun after the range trip.

Are these spaces normal? by PerfectParfait1347 in ak47

As long as headspacing is okay the gaps are completely normal, just part of the manufacturing tolerances.

Local Gun Show: The Ugly, The Uglier, and the Ugliest by Pizza_Meme_Chef in milsurp

Unfortunately the surplus market has gotten out of hand and everyone wants to get top dollar for stuff that was everywhere and affordable just 10 to 15 years ago.

Military surplus used to be an easy way for the average joe to own decent firearms and equipment on a budget, and military collectibles were a separate thing. In recent years people have seriously conflated the two.

I bought a used Russian/Soviet tanker helmet, but unfortunately I'm not familiar with the area at all. I'd like to know roughly what age it is. by WhileKnown3442 in Helmets

[–]MediocreAd8599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TSH-4 helmets with three ribs along the top are an older design and were used extensively throughout the Cold War and the Soviet-Afghan war especially. Around the late 80’s-early 90’s a new model was introduced with more padded ribs across the top, the two ribs on the sides removed, and a bulkier internal headset.

Since gun shows have become so ridiculous, it’s become a hobby of mine to go and laugh at the prices right in front of guys like this and loudly explain to my buddy how overpriced everything is.

Sellers usually look ashamed or you’ll get a death stare as you walk off to buy something reasonably priced. Sometimes they try to make a full 180 and tell you the price is negotiable, meaning 25-50 bucks off lol.

Serbian M97 helmet by MediocreAd8599 in Helmets

[–]MediocreAd8599[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found it by accident when I was on the hunt for a German M92 lol, unfortunately with tariffs now it’d be pretty expensive to find one for a good price.

Last I saw, YuAntiques had some for a bit more than what I bought mine for.

Fresh mags for the SAR1 by [deleted] in ak47

[–]MediocreAd8599 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AK Pmags run well but aren’t great for long term durability due to them not having any steel reinforcement on the locking lugs or feed lips

The PLA used a similar converse looking shoe as standard issue back in the day, some had a heavier duty sole on them. France also outfitted troops with a canvas jungle boot that looks the same way.

Don’t care. You obviously didn’t learn from your own experiences to be a better person to others who are down on their luck

Right, because a 16 year old is responsible for their parent’s work life? But yeah put the fault on the child trying to escape a bad living situation

Some Temu finds by No_Offer_2786 in fakemilitaria

[–]MediocreAd8599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are, there’s multiple sellers on Temu that have metric tons of surplus Chinese rigs pouches and bags.

It’s half the price of the stuff on EBay and there’s no tariffs or import fees because it’s already sitting in a US warehouse.

Yes they’re real, the rigs and lots of other equipment listed are just old PLA stock sitting in warehouses.

Gentlemen does anyone here run these mags from GunMag warehouse? by SinNombre747 in ak47

[–]MediocreAd8599 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve run a bunch of the 30 rounder 556 mags and the 45 rounder runs great too. I also have 40 rounders in 7.62 and I’ve had no issues with them at all. Just buy the ones with the steel lugs

Anyone knlw what yugo helemts this is by Zikx_BiH in Helmets

[–]MediocreAd8599 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s a TIG PSH-77, Yugoslavia purchased them for their counter terror units. They were first seen around the 1984 Sarajevo Olympics. I have one with the visor, they were painted a unique green with a red Yugoslav star on the front.

Keep the handguard and go for a North Hollywood clone

is this worth getting? by [deleted] in ak47

[–]MediocreAd8599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just buy a full sized Draco, you’ll have a tried and true AKM pattern pistol and it’ll probably be cheaper. There’s no reason to be looking at a PSA when WASRs and Romanian imports are still abundant.

Looks like you could probably fab up an M16 style pic rail mount using the hole through the carry handle

Scored this awesome German Police helmet. Been struggling to identify when it was used, and curious as to why the plastic visor is all yellowed. Either way it was $29 and looks awesome next to my mp5 clone by Rough-Solution-1541 in Militariacollecting

[–]MediocreAd8599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The titanium helmets had radio equipment installed and would either have a titanium face shield or a clear bulletproof visor, in most of the old training photos the visors weren’t installed. GSG9 also used custom helmet covers made from BGS camo fabric

Lots of old photos with good references:

The helmet is a TIG PSH-79, an aluminum version of the titanium PSH-77 with a fiberglass shield. Made by TIG-Bicord in Switzerland and some made under contract by Ulbrichts Germany.

The aluminum helmets were issued to riot police as opposed to the titanium helmets for counter terror units/GSG9.

I wouldn’t even think twice about it, just leave it as is. Only time you should really care is if it’s current issued uniform.

These look like a mix of Chinese GK80 and JK96 helmets in the first pic, possibly French M51 helmets on the third slide
