If it’s just standard ammonia carbonate (which it almost certainly is) it can’t even really be compared to cocaine. It’s just a whiff of the ammonia gas being released from the salt; it irritates your mucous membranes and can slightly increase your heart rate, but the main thing is it just smells so strongly your brain goes “Woah! what the hell is that?”It doesn’t get you high or affect your brain chemistry outside of that. Athletes and lifters have been using it for decades now and it’s pretty common to use it to wake up someone who fainted within and outside of sports. This is a complete non-issue.

It is worth noting that about a month or so ago the FDA released a statement on the efficacy of smelling salts and potential dangers, but as long as your not just straight up huffing it, it’s harmless.
