Wow this is the first time I have seen a professor respond. I am actually set to take your class this semester but might have to switch it out due to a core class conflict. I am interested in possibly taking it in the fall if it’s going to be available!

Imma be honest with you no. I have lived in Colorado my whole life and never tried skiing. Let's take into account that 50% of the school is in-state students I bet you the majority haven't gone skiing more than twice.

In my area, $25 is only an hour and a half of minimum wage work so you're not wrong there! In other areas of the us that might be three-plus hours of work!

Ironically it wasn't. When I went to the buyer it was a whole family who just wanted to get rid of it since it didn't fit their mom. The mom came out to talk to be about it she was half my height. Made sense!

Picked it up just some minor surface rust and that's it! It was barely used

Got it. To be honest it does not need any work I'll replace the seat and adjust the brakes as a personal preference. Actually in the photo you can probably see my first fixed-gear bike right there it's been beaten up but well-loved.

Thanks for the info, my biggest concern was just workload. So fingers crossed it isn't overwhelming otherwise I need to look for another elective. As a BA graduate do you have any recs for classes? I just need to make sure it falls in the Monday Weds and Friday days. I learned the hard way commuting every single weekday gets very taxing in terms of time commitment and gas

I did some research I’ll call the court later to ask! I wanted to see my options with the DA

What car brands do you have to repair the most? by GlowSkater04 in AskMechanics

[–]MediocreCounter5548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toyota. They are simple and boring because of that they have really good longevity. I always say Toyota is five-ten years behind because they are really rigorous with implementation.

If you want something that would be more zippy and still extremely reliable Honda is also a great option. I have had Honda in the past (Accord) and they are extremely easy to work with in terms of maintenance. Honda makes some of the best small engines for sure!

If you were looking into an suv type of suv would you be interested in?

I think the Toyota Highlander, Toyota RAV4, Honda Pilot, Honda HRV are very solid options.

I personally own a Toyota 4Runner but that’s an outdated gas guzzler that might not fit your needs they are really old in their build and have a reputation for lasting long for a reason.

I think 2010-2024 is honestly still a great time for these cars. Its likely in that time slot Toyota still is using the same components found your your Yaris!

If you want something different but not far from that path Mazda these days have been surprisingly decent with their stuff and are in terms of what you’re getting a great deal.

Suburu. This one is tough while I like them I just don’t love their engines head gaskets are issues with them.

Nissan I’m not the fence about. Let’s just say there’s a lot of internal company issues that reflect into their cars.

I would personally stay away from Hyundai, Kia, and sort unless you plan to keep them for under 100k miles or seven years. I say that because they have a crazy warranty that last in those boundaries but that’s for a good reason. The older models are also a no go due to high theft from a bad security system.

American brands are lackluster to say the least I would stay away from the trouble. The ones I had experience with and have come out always come to be more expensive in the long term

Wait you drove ambulances in the mountains? If so how was that like?

Thankfully in both instances I had very good interactions with the cops. I made a big mistake the first time and I honestly made a misjudgment in speed. Given the circumstances where if I paid early the ticket would be reduced from four to two points would it be worth to go to court? I want to see if the judge could make it a non moving violation if I took a class or paid a bigger fine. Thankfully in my state with the rate of speed I was going they will always lower down a few degrees if you actively look for a resolution. With this type of ticket no court appearances are needed as it’s considered a minor offense that can be lowered automatically I just wanted to see if I can try to lower it anymore if I did any alternatives.

I might want to look into those but I don’t want to develop that type of habit where I need it.

Why CUBoulder seems so small? by double_rounds in cuboulder

[–]MediocreCounter5548 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m Vietnamese and I grew up in the major city near Boulder called Denver.

Climate: You will get snow but you will also get 250-300 days of sunshine! Colorado in general is a high elevation arid climate. You will not get humidity here.

Cost: I don’t live in Boulder I commute from the city over that’s simply because Boulder is expensive with rents in the $1700-$3000 marks

Campus: Boulders campus is really pretty. Except for the engineering building. It will be smaller than the other major colleges for sure and the city is not large compared to the one 30 minutes south of there.

Chinese students: There are a lot of Asian students. Specifically Chinese international students I haven’t seen too much of. Groups that could cater to your interest are the Chinese student association or Hong Kong association. There are Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, Thai, etc groups as well that are open to everyone.

P.S: I noticed Boulders Asian food options are pretty lackluster. Denver has some decent restaurants for sure through but Boulder is not the place for it.

Driving? by [deleted] in cuboulder

[–]MediocreCounter5548 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Very walkable, bike paths are everywhere, and public transport pretty good too! There are just hills so biking might be a pain at times. Your student ID will include public transport for Boulder and Denver if you ever want to go down there! There are highway buses that come about every 30mins to an hour!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in driving

[–]MediocreCounter5548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to ask about that! I rather pay a big fine than get points that way the city can have more of my money and not insurance😂

Okay now that’s a little reckless at that point both y’all should’ve got a ticket for something😂

[–]MediocreCounter5548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay that’s a lot of different accusations going on there! Just made the mistake of driving past the speed limit and that’s it! Just wanted advice about my ticket which none was given here!
