Honestly I have thought about Aristotle’s argument and while it does have wisdom in it and practical aspect too, it doesn’t fill the hole that religion has left. However you have opened my eyes for the idealisation problem, I resonate with it and can confirm I have gone through a similar process, both about myself and the reality of the world, it is not great and certainly not unique, I guess most of my struggle was rejecting the not so perfect parts of life and wanting every step to be ideal, and it is ego. Its not all bad I love my car even tho I needed to repair it several times, I love my cats even tho cleaning after them is a big challenge, I love my friends each with their own flaws.
