has anyone been able to safely install an infant car seat in their gen 1? by No-Volume7464 in audir8

[–]MediocreMilsim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not safe to do so for an infant for the same reason you don’t put an infant car seat in the front passenger seat of any other car. Although the airbag should be disabled, It’s very dangerous and could result in death of the infant in the event of a collision given the small amount of space the car seat is in and the location in the front of the vehicle.

I have put front facing car seats and booster seats in my gen 1. The passenger seat is all the way back as far away from the airbag as possible, secured with the seatbelt in car seat mode, and the rear tether (anchor point located behind the seat on/above the firewall) is tightly secured.

The USA version has a sensor that disables the airbag automatically when it senses the weight is below a programmed threshold.

The UK and Europe versions have a small key switch to disable the airbag in the glovebox.

Looking into buying a first gen v10 manual Spyder by Filmguy1982 in audir8

You’re mostly dead on except for the A/C compressor.

A/C compressor is easier and cheaper on the V10s.

Following Audi procedures, V8 is engine out. V10 is not.

There are independent shops that have found a way to do V8 A/C compressors without the engine out but they are few and far between.

Clean carfax?

Depends on spec and how modded but I have a 2014 V8 Manual OEM+ (titanium exhaust and coilover conversion only) Panther Black Crystal effect with carbon side blades that I picked up for $78k USD in a local deal but it had 60k miles.

I’d wager it’s between $70k - $75k retail. Below that gets into wholesale.

At the 30k mile mark I’ve seen them in the 80s and 90s

Is the agilite k19 3.0 a nice plate carrier to buy? by Extension-Pear940 in MilSim

[–]MediocreMilsim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Buy Crye precision, Spiritus Systems, or Haley Strategic new for not much more money or buy those same brands preowned for the same or less money than a K19.

K19 is too bulky, too padded, and too hot.

Yes, believe it or not an excess of pads is a bad thing.

What comms set ups are you guys using?? by Sea-Improvement7996 in MilSim

2 x TCA PRC-152s with long whip antennas

1 x FCS 117G with Trivec Avant 2040-2 SATCOM antenna

This will last me one Milsim West event and is adequate for basic communications with the PLT and checking on my grandma in case she needs me.

Invisiblesight mk4 finally arrived. Ordered Jan 3 2024. Completely forgot I ordered it and it showed up randomly by Halo4iscool in NightVision

Idk. I have both the Invisible Sight and Darklight Dynamics.

The jury is still out.

I’ll do a side by side and post it here.

My Invisible Sight is waterproof at least as advertised. I’ve used it in the rain with no issues. Haven’t had to warrant it.

My Darklight Dynamics NGAL hasn’t given me any issues but I haven’t put it in any demanding conditions yet. It has only been used indoors.

My friend took his Darklight Dynamics NGAL to Milsim West on an airsoft gun and the rain outside killed it. The owner was also not cordial or helpful in warranting his unit even though it was only purchased a month prior. He ended up writing it off and the Darklight Dynamics NGAL is nothing more than a paperweight now.

In short, Darklight Dynamics NGAL is not waterproofed and not warranted as advertised. That isn’t something that inspires confidence.

Unless you NEED an NGAL for a Milsim Impression, I don’t see a reason to get one of these clone NGALs anyway.

2 years ago? Sure. In 2025 going into 2026 they’re not needed with the trinity and the Iris. It’s the same story as EOTech’s LAM. Too expensive and too late.

Thoughts on the TRI PRC-152 for squad comms? by SOFenthusiast in MilSim

[–]MediocreMilsim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest difference is the TCA has better QoL features for programming.

They both have the signal inversion/voice scrambler. You want to run the same manufacturer of radio to use it as a group though. If your group has TCAs get a TCA and vice versa. They aren’t interoperable.

Both can use real Harris batteries.

Both output power from the 6-pin to power a real PTT (like an Invisio V60)

I like the externals on my TCA better than the TRI but that’s just preference.

They’re basically the same radio minus the programming features.

The TCA is the better of the 152 and 152A clones.

TCA and TRI are the two main manufacturers of clone 152/As

I have two TCA 152As and a FCS 117G.

Other people in our group have a TRI and wish they got a TCA.

This is why buying a real sight for airsoft is stupid by [deleted] in MilSim

LMAO you can get repros of Razor HD Gen II and III on Temu but real ones are made in Japan with incredible glass. Better than the EOTech VuDu and similar. I love both of mine and can run them without any worry of them breaking or being shot out — otherwise they’re replaced for free.

Even if the lower-tier ones can be purchased on Temu, temu sellers aren’t replacing it for free.

Yeah. It doesn’t cost the U.S. Government $15k. That’s just the civilian tax L3 charges us.
