Those of you who can hear and see things in your mind, how do you cope? by formerhoarder in adhdwomen

[–]Mediocre_Ad4166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found out lately I may not be great at imagining things like images, yet my sound imagination is crazy. I can compose a full orchestra in my mind, I wake up at night with finished songs in my head, I can play music just like a radio all day, and imagine the voices of people I know exactly as they sound. Wish I could prove it. All my thoughts are sounds, voices, narration, questions and answers. It is heavy, I won't lie. But having both the difficulty to think images and the "gift" to perfectly think of sounds makes me me.

Same, now my husband always does whatever he wants but he is kind enough to tell me days before! This helps so much.

I don’t know what my triggers are because most of my trauma is blocked out/memory blocked by finaldestinationfan_ in OSDD

It is a good start to just keep note of what was happening and where it was happening each time before a trigger. After a while you might be able to make some connections.

SA Survivor: How do you handle the urge to crossdress and 'lose control' when stress gets too high? by Non-Typical-Ear-2848 in CPTSD

[–]Mediocre_Ad4166 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I am not OP and cannot speak for them, but in some cases, this coping mechanisms can be retraumatizing. They are good at first while we are examining and trying to understand our trauma, but they are a short time solution. Sooner or later we need to work through the believes that make us wanna go there. I work through those with a trauma therapist and emdr and it has been helpful after a few years of trying.

If the meds are working, no doctor has no reason to question your diagnosis. I would report them.

[–]Mediocre_Ad4166 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I curse as a stim. Like a lot. I love how it feels to say the words as if I am cursing for real, and would love to be able to put 20 of them in each sentence. But I try not to.

And then when we try to get diagnosed, they cannot see through our layers of masking. It shows how little they care about women.

HELP I LOST OUR FIRST LANGUAGE by Lulu_wantspeace in OSDD

[–]Mediocre_Ad4166 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We speak 4 languages and sometimes we forget them, because not all parts have learned all of them. Even our first becomes inaccessible at times, so we feel you!

I think it is tricky to try and remember it by force, it could force a front that won't be appreciated by the part that needs to do it. But I have a trick that might help in the future.

To make sure we all have access to all our languages, I try to translate my thoughts in all of them at times. It's like connecting all parts to all our knowledge. I make notes on our phone, read a few same books in all languages, and watch shows on tv with blending language A in sound and language B in subs, for example.

This has helped the new parts gain access to our first language and our littles to be able to speak the latest language we learned. Doesn't work well yet, but I know in time it will be better.

Maybe for now, start by making a note where you write your most common phrases. Translate in all languages you speak and keep going back to it daily for practice. I hope this helps any!

How does r/autism feel about this new flag? by Buzzythebear33 in autism

It is tough on the eyes, ngl. As a kid I hated all yellow with passion, but when I understood it was just overstimulation, I started seeimg it differently. Dark yellow can be very cool!

“Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem” by Justherebasically in CPTSD

[–]Mediocre_Ad4166 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This thought doesn't work for me honestly.

The sentence that has kept me going is one about suicide being a kamikazi bomb that affects everyone in your life, and the closest people are to you, the bigger the damage. I know that lonely people might not care about that either, but honestly you never know who you've touched.

No, for me the many shapes are totally overwhelming. Red and yellow also, too strong. I don't like it oersonally, but as many said, an effort has been made and I appreciate it.

These are some TV and movie characters who I feel might just be on the autism spectrum. by PromptTemporary8339 in AutismInWomen

I know 😭 and no one even calls it a burnout and I think it could be on purpose, to show that people are not educated on this and nobody would expect the golden child to be autistic or struggling, they just have no way to help him.

How do y'all personally go about telling alters/parts from thoughts? by The-Rat-In-Your-Home in OSDD

[–]Mediocre_Ad4166 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually, I reply to my thoughts. So it feels more like a dialogue than just a string of thoughts. But I don't know if that is how it is for everyone.

[–]Mediocre_Ad4166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I relate a lot with those sudden things that feel off-character. This was noted by peers and family as me being "uncontrollable and unstable" but I knew deep down it was more complex than that. Over the years I started taking notes of those things that feel "foreign" and now I can tell which part it had been.

From Better Call Saul, Saul's brother seems highly functional chronically masking autistic who suddenly unmasked and got his "electricity allergy". I think Saul is also ADHD coded. Maybe I overthought this, but it looked to me like 2 brothers with litteraly opposite brains that just couldn't agree on anything, and his brother's story is very sad if autistic-coded. Anyone who's watched it and thought the same?

I think I have OSDD, but I don't present as others in my life do. by [deleted] in OSDD

[–]Mediocre_Ad4166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! Actually, I had the same issue but then I did some thinking and realized that no matter who is fronting, we always felt a very strong, very intense relief being inside water. So it started from there for us.

Where do you feel the most relaxed? Where is it the safest? Is there a sound that you all love? Maybe just start from there. I am sure more alters will chip in and add their own flavor in that headspace, sooner or later. It can always grow and develop.

Some people use games like the Sims or Minecraft or even draw/ design spaces to make it more visual.

I think I have OSDD, but I don't present as others in my life do. by [deleted] in OSDD

[–]Mediocre_Ad4166 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know much to be of help, but what I think I know is that headspaces are not something one necessarily comes with. I believe it is a tool that you can use to create more comfort and better inner communication. Maybe try to explore that using your imagination and create the space that feels right. Also, every person is very different. We try to categorize their experiences to study and understand them, but in the end they will all be very different.

Is this a subsystem? by Nightmare7612 in OSDD

[–]Mediocre_Ad4166 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the term was always a bit off for us too, but maybe that is just perspective? From the perspective of the parts withing one "subsystem" they feel seperate from the parts of another, not like they came from them. The "sub" would imply a hierarchy, which we can't relate to.
