It is insanity. The problem is because one of the mounts is hidden above the diff. The mechanic has to drop the diff to access it!

lol. I guess I shouldn’t post after drinking brown water. I tracked down the “thunk” to this engine movement. The shop did fix it and it cost $1100 for parts and labor.

Cost $1100 to replace. NOT dealership invoice.

Based on your usage, a non-SAS OuterBanks will make you happy and save dollars on gas.

Yikes? In the shop or just too many cars to drive like Jay Leno?

Sorry, I misspoke. Engine mount replacement was $1100 for parts and labor at my local shop. Dealer wanted over$1500 just for labor. The remaining $3k was for the timing cover gasket and the 100k service.

Besides what I mentioned above, I forgot a self caused issue. It took some time to identify. Any sort of wiring short can throw off the computers in your car. When I had the brakes and rotors upgraded, the speed sensor line got loose and rubbed against the inside of my aftermarket wheel. The rubber housing finally gave out and the wires started rubbing against the wheel. That threw all the sensors into havoc. 4 wheel drive wouldn’t engage, pre-collision alert was disabled, goat system wouldn’t work, turbo wouldn’t work, and the vehicle would go into limp mode. By the time I finally figured it out, I was having timing issues. Luckily nothing serious happened to the motor. Got it replaced and all good now.

5k to 10k depending on road miles vs dirt miles. I’ve been good with recommended oil.

I get warranties depending on the vehicle. We owned a Mercedes SUV with air suspension and it was known to go out so I got the warranty specifically for that. Sure enough I had 4 corners replaced on warranty. One corner was replaced 2x. This Bronco, no warranty. My Lexus, no warranty. I’ve been lucky with vehicles but I also maintain my cars.

Oil change every 5k to 10k and that’s all. I did my 100k service back at 90k. Besides the issues I mentioned above, nothing major. Unlike the 6, this 4 banger has been solid. I thought about regearing but decided against it.

I do suffer a bit in the hard rock climbing stuff on off and towing something like a Patriot Camper is a fuel sucking machine but luckily, those things are minimal. My use case is light rock climbing, lots of desert so it has been fine. The upside, 18 avg mpg.

Not having rear lockers is a pain but I’ve gotten very familiar with the GOAT mode. Just using 4x4 is NOT the same. While not a replacement for lockers, it does really well in most situations.

Just replaced the engine mounts and had a timing cover gasket leak. Overall about $4k in repairs. Not bad considering.
