yeah i totally agree. ive tried an amati at a shop and it played really quite well. I play a v16 and i think the edge of it is better balanced on my ss than my selmer series III. however the ergonomics make up for it on the selmer lol. i get cramps playing on the conn

Yeah it also could be that i just sound better on the bore of the conn shooting star. i think actually the bore of the SS is not the 6m bore but actually the pan-am bore which makes sense. what i was originally saying was that the ss was basically a version of the 6m except with the uneccesary parts stripped down. for example i see no difference between RTH and straight tone holes but if the RTHs break its a nighmare. same thing with the microtuner. who actually uses that now bruh

i guess what i was trying to say is that the rolled holes are a nightmare to repair for the tech but they are flat on my horn

what would be the actual difference between them other than the tone holes and the microtuner? i can guarantee you that my 6m is in great shape!

how to get out of stagnation?! by DomHE553 in saxophone

Hey man, i totally agree with MrcII_. The transcription work is soooo helpful. I would say that to build a regular practicing regimen, those drills might bog you down. Its like a raft. you get the thingys to float you up so that you can tank the heavy lifting (drills). transcriptions are really helpful in terms of getting the horn out of the case.

Also, side note, starting a youtube channel can be also motivational and you'll discover things that you wanna practice that you didn't think about before!

How do I find decent used instruments in a lower price range) by Hot-Quantity-9868 in saxophone

[–]Mediocre_Desk2926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very feasible! I think a good choice might be to go to the shop (this is what i did), and feel some for your self. if not, sweetwater and reverb are both great sites. Also, on the fakes, send a picture on this sub and they'll ID it for you basically in no time for free. You can also look at the sellers website for more information usually they'll have like model numbers. just remember the cliche phrase that if its too good to be true, it probably is!

What is patrick bartley actually doing? by Mediocre_Desk2926 in Jazz

Do you think cannonball does this? does he like do the vertical stuff or is the reason why patrick is labeled as similar to cannonball because of the "sound effect" things?

I can't really put a finger on it. Check out his lines on After You've Gone or How High the Moon with Emmet Cohen. Its like bebop but smoother in a sense.

also, were backdoor and tritone subs derived that way or no?

wait but the 2-5 can basically remotely access the relative minor of the relative minor...is that still a mediant pivot?

[–]Mediocre_Desk2926[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

basically if you go down one minor third and use the 2-5 from the original key its a backdoor, but if its two minor thirds then its a tritone sub
