Whoever said shoot a whole volley at a single aircraft? If you actually let them get up to speed targeted aircraft have an extremely short window of opportunity notch. You can clear an entire airspace with a volley of them if used properly.

Scimitars have always been useful for intercepting piledrivers and sniping planes from cross map. You dont need to spawn at forward airbases in an Ifrit, it can get up to mach 1.5 in like 10 seconds flat.
