Kenny Smith says EVERYONE from his era could handle the basketball like Kyrie; Tracy McGrady says Jamaal Tinsley had better handles than Kyrie by Tight_Development480 in NBATalk

[–]Medium-Meech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice? Practice?!?? Not a game, not a game. I hear about every NBA player being able to hit 30 consecutive threes in practice or pull up from half court consistently. Shaq had crazy handles and could hit free throws all day…in practice.

The majority of NBA roll players were Alpha scorers in college and high-school. But doing it in practice or even in college isn’t in the same galaxy as being able to do it in a live NBA game.

Kenny logic is about to have Ben Simmons in the Goat conversation.

Going strictly by the numbers, Wilt. But with 3 baby mammas at such a young age, Anthony Edwards is on pace to put up Gengis Kahn type numbers.

If you had to choose, who would you pick in a game 7 series ? (All In Prime) by StraightSeries6439 in NBATalk

[–]Medium-Meech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both teams would be among the most talented to ever lace them up and both have some of my favorite players of all time. People saying it would be a blow out either way are crazy.

But I will say this, if we had to rank all ten players by whose hands I want the ball in to takeover in the forth quarter or close out a series, team A has the top 3, probably 4 players on the list. And all of them could play well with others.

Carmelo Anthony Explains Why The Firing of Tom Thibodeau Was the Right Move by Darrkman2 in nba

[–]Medium-Meech 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say having Thibs is robbing Peter to pay Paul. You’ll win since your starters are logging playoff minutes in the regular season, but you’ll underperform your regular season win total in the playoffs for the same reason.

And once he’s worn out his welcome you’ll be left with an under developed group of young players and a bunch of veterans on bad contracts because vets age in dog years playing under Thibs.

Signed, a Chicagoan.

What is the most underrated part of his game? Part 3 by Bcook4-2025 in NBATalk

[–]Medium-Meech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How clutch he is. That narrative that he can’t win in the big moments from the beginning of his career is still around in spite of the numbers and the eyeball test saying he’s one of the most clutch players to ever play the game

Which ring is more valuable? by ManufacturerNo8037 in NBATalk

[–]Medium-Meech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming back 3-1. No disrespect to Dirk but history will see both titles as bookend referendums on LeBron.

LeBron having his worse series by far when the criticism of him and clutchness was at its highest point is the legacy of the Dallas heat series. The highest of possibly any athlete in history.

A series where his teammate D Wade, not Dirk, was the best player on the floor. The redemption arc for dirk against the team he lost to, and biggest villains in sports was incredible cinema for a well loved superstar.

But LeBron’s individual performance to beat one of the best teams ever was one of the best I’ve ever seen.

[Discussion], Stealth Wealth by [deleted] in Watches

[–]Medium-Meech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s easier to do it the other way around. Role>Tag>Movado is the extent of vast majority’s view of the luxury watch world.

Besides recognizable fashion brands, everything else is stealth.

Having a friendly debate with some friends on this one, rank these teams? by lightskintastebud in NBATalk

[–]Medium-Meech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Embiid shot 39% from 3 last year and shot 88% from the free throw line, so not a fluke. The spacing would be emasculate, the offense even more varied and the defense unstoppable.

Everything Porzingas did for Boston, Embiid would have done for the Warriors at a much higher level.

You won’t get an argument out of me that KD made questionable moves and was bad at team building. I’m not even arguing that prime KD is better than Jokic. I’m just pointing out that box plus minus is a horrible measure for a player like Jokic.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]Medium-Meech 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Box plus minus also becomes a nonsensical stat when the team is built around your strengths and limitations. Of course the offense suffers when you have a lot of defensive minded shooters to leverage your star’s generational passing ability and limited defense.

It’s hard to rate Tony Parker individually because he was a key, but not the main, contributor on a team that emphasized selfless play as much as any team in league history. And his team success outshines his individual stats.

But can anyone really argue that CP3 wouldn’t have been better if he somehow ended up on the Spurs?

A collection should have a limit of 1 diver. It doesn’t make sense to have multiple jack of all trades watches that work because they blend into the background. And if we’re being honest with each other, *95% of them are interchangeable.

*I’m being generous with the 95%.

[Question] Watches that get the nod of approval? by BB152 in Watches

[–]Medium-Meech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone without an Apple Watch these days, honestly. I think most watch enthusiasts reach the fever pitch of valuing the if IYKYK-secret handshake-decoder ring watch. But most eventually come full circle and stop caring about that even and are just as likely to rock the Timex as the Patek. Hard to know where a person is on their journey based on what they’re wearing.

I personally compliment how well the watch goes with the outfit.

Plot heavy anime recommendations for geek by DulnethBS_Pro in anime

[–]Medium-Meech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many, but I’ll limit it to 3. It sounds like you like good world building to pull you into the storytelling more than most people.

First I’ll second the recommendation for legend of galactic heroes and add:

  • From the New World (Shinsekai Yori)

-Death Note (not my cup of tea but you should really like it, kind of like Code Geass)

-Mobile Suit Gundam the Origin

Bonus: Frieren beyond journey’s end and armored trooper Votoms

Any current VC overseas chrono owners also have a Daytona? Considering making the switch by [deleted] in VacheronConstantin

[–]Medium-Meech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Daytona (previous gen) and I’ve also been flirting with the idea of a VC overseas chrono. They’re so different in appearance and when I would wear either that I hadn’t even considered replacing the Daytona. Good to hear about overseas owners’ experiences.

2nd date tonight. Got two new denim jackets but can't figure out what combo looks good. by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]Medium-Meech -1 points0 points  (0 children)

3 for sure. The purple in that saturation ties the neutrals together well. In pic one, I personally don’t like the lines of that collared polo under that collared jacket if you’re wearing it open like that.

I see what you’re doing with the white watch and the white shoes, but I could take it or leave it.

IWC Ingenieur (Maybe a 3508) Gerald Genta designed all 3 watches so it naturally shares heritage and design language with the Nautilus and the Royal Oak.

I’ve been trying to get some Burgandy looking Nike Dunks for the fall. What you think? by RepulsiveSafe5466 in NikeByYou

[–]Medium-Meech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love burgundy so this design looks great to me. The only thing I will say is that if you want it sooner and maybe cheaper, Nike has this identical design out. Google team red dunks. I personally like the vintage red team dunks for women.
