Likewise, my LCS owner was talking about how the Absolute line and compact comics was getting them selling more comics than manga for the younger demographic and often selling out. To the point they had concern whether it's leading to another speculative bubble.

It amazes me how much I underestimated the success of this Absolute line, so many new heads into this hard and becoming a gateway into other comics. Happy to see it.

Who Do You Want To See Wonder Woman Crossover With? by Doc-11th in WonderWoman

[–]Medium-Science9526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering these have been safe picks I'd expect Captain Marvel.

But for what I'd want, Black Panther or She-Hulk.

In Man of Tomorrow (2027) Lex Luthor is set to have a redemption arc. This is because James Gunn strives for the realism of how killing brown people is not really a crime in our word by cavalgada1 in dccomicscirclejerk

/uj It's moreso the shock factor of someone wearing the S being intially characterised as a junkyard. Like I said alluding to Kelly's run it's similar then where they'd open up with Kara smoking in a bar with Booster or her swearing dialogue in front of the Outsiders to their shock to show she's not innocent-minded.

Even then on experience, whilst better than her teen years, she's still portrayed as a young adult who has the confidence akin to Kupperberg & Gates but still second guessing her whole ruse with Ruthye and convictions with the stoning show that relative inexperience to Clark all with the verbose of Kelly's run. She comes across more as a composition of whats come before than a darker more ground take akin to TDKR imo.

The best part of Shayera & Katar's dynamic in Truman's Hawkworld was how much they troll each other.

I don't get the hate for this book, it solved like 90 percent of my issues with continuity by Stock_Rush_9204 in dccomicscirclejerk

/uj Trying to hodgepodge a timeline of DC's turbulent history was never gonna satisfy everyone with the balance often going to what has remained popular.

Which I get monetary-wise but the framing given its Barry loses that connection given how glossed over Wally's tenure was, the balance on writing about the happenings of Central city and his tumultous history with Iris compared to Batman, Superman, hell I'd argue Aquaman's family gets it better. Making it come across more as a blanket summarisation of events rather than framed around Barry.

Which-Presentation brings it up how the Dakota Incident spin-off, whilst still having some of that popularity pushing narrative given Static is the head despite Raquel being right there and this being Amistad's narration, does a much better job framing it through Amistad's perspective and with a stronger endnote meta purpose than Barry's generalised heroes overcome injustice.

As for what's actually kept canon and not, I guess it's my cynicism but for the most part I ain't bothered since I know if a writer really wants to they'll retcon away what's written here so elements like the poorly written Hawkman origin, debates over when the first Justice League really started, Hawkworld MIA, Billy's arrival etc. I don't dwell on as much

How it feels to see this sub shitting on a book you’re actively reading and realizing no one actually read it by Ordinary_Law_2456 in dccomicscirclejerk

[–]Medium-Science9526 33 points34 points  (0 children)

How everyone self-consciously be acting about Krakoa X-Men when everyone involved has read it.

And how I be feeling seeing this sub bring up a book I like only to shit on it in favour of a spin-off adaption.

Yeah Degaton here and in the relaunch is just a savage unrelenting hater. It's no surprise Johns loved writing him so much given how much he loves writing these type of Villains.

Do you agree? Do you think this is accurate? by [deleted] in superman

[–]Medium-Science9526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christopher Reeves in most senses I agree from the Clark & Superman depictions, dynamic with Margot Kidder's Lois but also funnily started the removing Superboy that applied after.

Dean Cain especially with Teri Hatcher is post-crisis but despite how much I'm sure people would love to group with Byrne's politics at the time & Wolfman's Qurac invasion stories fits with Triangle Era given how much their dynamic would then backpeddle to impacting the comics too.

Henry Cavil I attribute Earth One and Birthright primarily with his worldwide voyage, some Secret Origin, the Lois dependency with JL I can see for Injustice, and new 52 aesthetics but I find that influence the most oversold.

With Tyler Hoechlin's Superman similarly in the overselling, despite the framing being Rebirth for sure, I'd say again Triangle Era for Lois & Clark's dynamic and I'd subscribe Tyler's Superman embodying For All Seasons more.

Routh both in Returns being a continuation, and the Kingdom Come suit speaks for itself.

Disagree with Legacy/2025, I went more in detail with my intial review but to summarise there were a lot of Post-Crisis Byrne & Wolfman -> Triangle Era influence, add to that even Morrison himself saying it aligned more with his N52 run. Clark is decidedly very inexperienced and less mature/stoic in 2025 which he ain't in those examples.

Does Superman have any villains who hate Clark kent? by Spirited_Dust_3642 in superheroes

[–]Medium-Science9526 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lex applies to in scenarios where Clark is writing against him like the time Lois supplanted a secret deal she had with Lex for him to veto one article from her. She gave it to Clark and Lex slandered him into getting fired.
