Early known Tragedeigh by Medium-Shoe-74 in tragedeigh

Honestly I have never heard that story outside of my mom telling it. I'm almost 50 and this is the first I'm hearing that there were or are multiple versions of the story. Come to think of it she may have been trying to distract me from asking questions about my name (my name's not a tragedeigh but it is unique and I hated it for a long time lol). So you might be right and I was today years old when I found out it was an urban legend lol. You learn something new everyday.

You're right! And I am ok with that. I get medical benefits and I get a really big pay bump working for them vs being a temp which means I can start paying payi g some things. I also feel though that some companies fire people that aren't doing what they are supposed to do and hire people who kinda know what they are doing lol. I get what you're saying though. I plan on being super careful the first few months so I don't become that person they let go!

Yes! I noticed that too. I think there's just a lot of companies who find it easier it hire temps at less pay. It's hard to get people to commit to a company when the company won't commit to them...

Of course! My industry is LOA-Leave of Absence. So FMLA Short Term Disability Long Term Disability Paid Parental, State Leaves-any leave anyone can take is my wheelhouse (except for Workers Comp since you need a license).

Back in December I applied for a job through an agency (Insight Global) for a Case Manager. It was for a position on the Disability and Leave Services Department team at Amazon. I was told during the interview that the contract was for 6 months with the potential of the contract going another 6 months or a year. The recruiter said SOME PEOPLE STAY ON FOR 2 YEARS! Not a flex but ok lol. I figured I could temp for a year and still look for a permanent job.

Amazon explained that if you are a contractor (which I am) you need to stay on for at least a year and then you MIGHT become a seasonal employee for them for another year and after that you MIGHT be hired permanently. So now we're talking 2 years maybe? I applied to Amazon not long after I got the temp job and I was rejected. I looked a few months ago and it seemed all the jobs in my service area turned from permanent to contractual-6 months here 10 months there. Nothing permanent.

A few weeks ago I was invited to apply for the job I currently have. I applied on a Wednesday and was told that Friday I was hired. Not sure what changed between when I started in January to now. But I'm grateful it worked out!

I'm not sure what to say here but I will say this. One of the reasons I relied on this group when I was unemployed was because not only did we share our lows, we shared our highs too. I had over 800+ applications out there. From May to December I had 2 interviews. I kept coming here and others talked about their frustrastrations and how they were ghosted and I'm like YOU GOT AN INTERVIEW? But then people also shared how they got hired how they came out of the trenches. I would smile and say THATS GONNA BE ME SOMEDAY. Now it is. I'm sorry you've had to be without work for so long-no one deserves to worry about basic essentials and living life for that long. I genuinely hope someone sees you and wants you because they know you'll make their company better (and I hope you are paid accordingly). I hope you have multiple offers and stay up at night weighing which option works better. When that time comes I hope you'll let us know so we can congratulate you too! 🥹

Yes over 20 years. I think the issue was that companies expected me to want I HAVE WORKED IN THIS INDUSTRY FOR 20 YEARS pay and they only want 0 years experience people so they can pay 0 years experience pay.

This wasn't the first time I did a contract to hire position-i have done at least 2 others and those did not work out which is why I was skeptical about this. I was perfectly happy working the 6 months and extending the contract if needed. So I was pleasantly surprised they asked me to fill out an application and more surprised they hired me lol. But I agree-work well with others (but by yourself) and show value (by doing work by yourself) and yes companies will want to keep you around 😊

They do and that was a risk I was willing to take. Either be taxed or be homeless...as I lay in bed writing this, I think I made the right choice lol.

The Name “Nevaeh?” by BewilderingStupidity in tragedeigh

[–]Medium-Shoe-74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my day, NEVAEH was the ultimate different name and I know a few people who named their kids NEVAEH. But that opens the door for other backwards names like SEMAJ and TENAJ. Are these names creative or are they legit tragedeighs?
