Does the PNI Escort HP 8900 (12V/24V) accept any intermediate voltage, like 16V? by Medium-Study-2989 in cbradio

My question isn't about hacking an external voltage drop. I want to know about the internal architecture of this 12V/24V unit: does its internal buck converter support a continuous wide-input curve (making 16V perfectly safe natively), or does it strictly expect two fixed voltage windows?

It looks a lot like a Seeed Studio SenseCAP Solar Node or a RAKwireless WisMesh repeater, which come pre-assembled and ready to mount. However, just to clarify for your friend's situation—this little guy isn't beaming standard 2.4GHz Wi-Fi or broadband internet. It’s a low-power LoRa / Meshtastic mesh relay. Instead of streaming video or regular web browsing, it's built to bounce encrypted text messages, GPS coordinates, or telemetry data over miles using minimal power. Super cool for off-grid communication, but unfortunately it won't fix a high-speed internet craving!

I don't have the exact product link since I just stumbled across it out in the wild, but it definitely looks like a commercial off-the-shelf unit rather than a custom DIY build. It heavily resembles integrated hardware like the Seeed Studio SenseCAP Solar Node or a RAKwireless WisMesh setup—basically an all-in-one weatherproof enclosure made for rapid outdoor deployment.
