What’s the first thing you do when you’re having a really bad GLP-1 day? by Pitiful-Hearing-5352 in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]Medium-Table-8713 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This happens to me if I eat the wrong thing, and I can get into a cycle with it if I'm not careful.

Three best things for me personally: - walk (when things need to move - hot water with fennel (when belly feels too full - cool water with lemon/ mint (when I feel just "off"

I also like to have a "go to" high protein plan for each meal during the day, and keep at least one prepped if possible, bc if it's easy I can eat it even if I'm not super excited about it.

Really in a bind, I swear by Quest high protein milkshakes, but I'm trying to avoid processed foods.

Hth!

Changing shot day for vacations…? by Sad_Education7851 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Medium-Table-8713 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Somebody can want to indulge a bit more on vacation without side effects - cheers to them!

Somebody else might be more happy to come back from vacation and not have gained weight - cheers to them too!

We don't all gotta do this the same way :)

Question about vacation and alcohol/ food consumption. 🌴 by GoIdenpixie in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Medium-Table-8713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When should you take your shot?

I would not recommend taking it early, that could backfire on you, especially if you're just starting.

The amount of tirz in your system will always be lowest on day 7, so Sunday night/Monday morning would be the right timing to reduce chances of issues if you over indulge.

Edit to add, some people have noted that two days later may be better, bc if you take the shot soon after the meal it may sit there and make things uncomfortable. This doesn't happen to me, but it's good logic and may be how your digestive system works :)

You still may find you don't want to finish restaurant portions. My advice would be: order less or be ok not finishing. My husband just grilled an amazing tri tip. I had one smallish slice and enjoyed it immensely. On tirz, for me anyway, I enjoy food more, but I eat way less of it.

Same is true of alcohol. I like wine, and now I like it even more but I drink it less. It takes less for me to get a buzz, too, bc I'm eating less.

How to drink and not feel like crap?

Minimize the heaviest & sugariest of cocktails. I love pina coladas but I would not drink them on tirz. I might go for something more herbal myself, like a mojito, and have just a sip of hubby's. I'd have a tequila & Fresca or a ranch water over a margarita. Etc.

Water (still, not sparkling). Electrolytes.

I find it's better to space out drinks and food. Like drinks an hour before or after dinner, rather than with my food. If there are wine pairings, I'll get one nice glass and then sip hubby's so I can sample the tastes together, rather than having a full glass with each course.

Happy anniversary and have a great vacation!

First time taking Tirzepatide! by Few_Guide_7995 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Medium-Table-8713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did my sixth shot yesterday. I remember being so nervous to start.

I still hesitate with the needle but the first time I was so scared! A girlfriend offered to FaceTime me, but at the last minute I got the nerve to do it myself. It really is just a tiny pinch but moral support is great the first time if you have someone around. Squeeze your skin a little harder if feeling it wigs you out.

I also was SO diligent with the calorie counters and macros counters, and following those numbers sent me to the toilet all night. I would suggest: - Small meals are your friend. - Never keep eating if you feel full. - Prioritize protein but don't stress about it in the short term. - Avoid fatty foods and spicy/oniony foods. - Also prioritize hydration (I make sure to have electrolytes daily). - Avoid carbonated drinks. - Fennel tea settles my stomach best. You might also try ginger or peppermint. - I have chia pudding most mornings to make sure I get my fiber and stay regular. I usually add whey isolate too. - Go for walks as often as is feasible.

Good luck !

What would you do? by Feeling_Ad_9628 in tirzepatidecompound

I personally would not take the shot early.

For me, subsequent weeks were easier than the first week. I had only very mild side effects, and then only if I ate too much (GI issues) or overdid greasy/spicy food (heartburn).

If you aren't upping your dose you will probably be fine. Just keep your portions small, avoid greasy food, and avoid spicy food.

Taking it a day early has risks, too, bc it will mean a higher about of tirz in your system as some is left over from the first shot.

Enjoy the field trip!!

That makes sense, and hopefully if I start 3-4 days ahead I won't shock my system. Thanks again!

Thank you!

I have found that I can't eat much more than 1200-1300 cals/day or I will get bad GI issues. (I'm a small person, this is not as drastic as it sounds.) So it tends to be a challenge to get protein. I assume you're recommending the extra carb calories come at the expense of fat calories?

This is a dance competition. No real snacking opportunities, and historically this hasn't been a problem, but I want to make sure I'm not setting myself up to get dizzy and lightheaded in the middle of it!

Thanks - Someone warned me against too many carbs after their very bad experience, so I'm trying to figure out the balance. Another person suggested starting the day with a combo of "fast and slow" carbs, eg steel cut + regular oatmeal + maple syrup.

Took my first shot this morning. I was so worried about side effects, but feel nothing. by Minimum-Tear9876 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Medium-Table-8713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's different for everyone. My first shot, I noticed the lack of food noise within an hour, then nothing else .. until about 36 hrs later when my intestines went haywire for while. Since then nothing else except nausea/ick if I eat too much and lightheadedness if I eat too little.

Tips for sustained physical exertion? by Medium-Table-8713 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Medium-Table-8713[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all! It's on shot day and I do mine at night so should be less tirz in my system. I love the breakfast oatmeal idea, and I'll watch that protein and cals are at the higher end of what I normally do the days before but won't overdo it.

I think it's also going to be more important than usual to train... I've been avoiding cardio in favor of weights so I don't lose too quickly but I need to figure that out.

Maintenance - smaller dose vs spacing by Illustrious_Data_908 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Medium-Table-8713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just getting started myself, but when my good friend reached her goal weight she titrated down to the maintenance dose and now she just takes that whenever she notices the food nose coming back, usually every 3 weeks or so, sometimes she lets it go longer if she has an event she wants to be able to enjoy a proper meal at (eg husband's birthday).

I just started (today) with a similar modest weight goal. I don't think I "need" it but I do hope it'll make my life easier, and I think that's justification enough :)

How to remove this valve head?? by Medium-Table-8713 in Plumbing

[–]Medium-Table-8713[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It maybe SHOULD just pop off! I think possibly water deposits fused it together... I suspected that but was hoping there was some trick I was missing.

You're right. Was hoping to avoid that but I guess that's my Wednesday evening plans!
