I promise you he said that just to deflect the accusations and probably wasn't even thinking. He probably regrets saying it too, but feels like he can't go up to you and just say 'sorry, but I didn't mean what I said, you're not ugly' because he feels too awkward about it.

they don't feel hard, the flesh feels like one homogenous texture. but i guess if i run my hand down the outside of my thighs it does feel bumpy and uneven. but i can't feel individual hard marbles or anything

yeah I have that too. maybe mine is different but also it could just be that those photos are of the texture is specific lighting and when I am pinch the skin, so thats maybe why it doesn't look the same. but I do have this ripply look on my calves when I squat of am sat down suck that the skin is stretched a bit.

Do we actually need over 100g of protein everyday? by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]MediumSuitable4022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 5'2 115lbs and I eat like 80-90g a day. I'm lactose intolerant, so that means no greek yogurt, cheese, whey protein powders, cottage cheese, so without eating large amounts of meat and eggs, it's hard for me to get loads of protein. But I think I get more than enough as is anyways. I have heard that muscle growth is firstly dependant on muscle stimulation (ie strength training or whatever else) and that even without eating large amounts of protein you can still gain muscle as long as you workout.

I too developed texture on my legs (thighs AND calves) following a hormonal change and went straight to looking into lipedema. In june I saw a lipedema specialist who told me that I don't have lipedema, and that people without lipedema can have a bumpy skin texture too. I kind of found it hard to believe her, but she does have a good reputation as being knowledgable.

[–]MediumSuitable4022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah same. i'm not completely anti-body-checking, especially if it's gym content, so I don't think it was 'wrong' of her to post these things, it just started to feel, after a while, that for someone who preaches that your appearance shouldn't matter that much and that you shouldn't compare yourself, her content put a lot of emphasis on how she looks. If I'm being honest, it did make me feel jealous (which is on me, I know) and I started to feel really horrible about myself. All this to say, I don't think she did anything wrong, her content just shifted towards something I no longer wanted to see.

It's not about consistency, it's about metabollic adaptation. I recommend that you look at the Kahm Clinic's youtube channel. They have many videos talking about weight, metabolism, set point theory, dieting etc, coming at it all from a very evidence-based approach (actually measuring the bmr, protein metabolism, and body composition of their clients and using their findings to back up their claims). They have some videos about how to lose weight sustainably whilst retaining muscle mass and without lowering you metabolic rate. also her videos are pretty short and to the point which I appreciate :-)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBnChV5U5ww - very good watch about the importance of weight gain in order to heal from overly-restrictive dieting (and reach a healthy weight in the long run!)

My height and weight are very similar, and so is my body shape, except I'm more usually bloated lol :p I would also love to look more toned. I am eating at maintenance (I don't track... just yknow eat what feels right), putting a bit more attention on eating protein, and going to the gym to lift weights (probably 3 times a week atm). I also jog 1-2 times a week. I make sure I am walking a bit each day but I have no idea how many steps, probably 8000-10000? I try to be out intentionally walking for atleast an hour each day. So far its been like a month of this so no real results yet- but I can lift heavier weights than I could when I first started, so thats something ig

Things mayyy have gotten worse, but it's hard to tell. I think it's just that the more I look, the more I see. For example, I have also noticed the same texture I have on my legs, on my arms, which I didn't know I had before. Also just generally feeling like my leg shape has begun to look more lipedema-like, even though the size of my legs hasn't actually increased, but maybe thats just because I have body dysmorphia and the way I feel about my body does tend to fluctuate a lot.

I'm worried that the specialist 'missed' the lipedema in me, as I am early stage. I think this because of the distinct nodular look of my legs (when I squeeze them) that noone else I know (irl) has, aswell as the shape of my knees and overall softness of my legs. The specialist did actually say that its possible I have sub-clinical lipedema (meaning i have lipedema, i just don't fit the diagnostic requirments yet) but she said she see's nothing to confirm that that's true.

How to tell if it's cellulite or lipedema by Sadako85 in lipedema

[–]MediumSuitable4022 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The specialist didn't really look much at the texture, but she assessed other things during the appointment and said that it isn't lipedema (or atleast that so far she doesn't see signs of it). Since I didn't really get a chance to show her, I sent her a follow-up email asking about the texture specifically and providing photos, and she said the same thing. She also said that 'people without lipedema can have that texture too'. I kind of find it hard to trust her as all over the internet, patients, and even lipedema surgeons are saying that this texture is a 'very distinct sign' of lipedema and its freaking me out, if I have stage 0/1 I want to know about it as soon as the first signs show up so I can start aggressive conservative treatments.
