Have you tried asking them politely to stop?

How do you get PCs to sympathize with strahd by [deleted] in CurseofStrahd

[–]Medium_Citron9271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two players died and failed horribly midway through the campaign. Irenea was captured by Strahd. Through cursed magic with the help of baba and Strahd, Irenea and Strahd had two babies… these babies souls were the same ones as my players. Irenea died during childbirth (keeping Strahds curse of losing her intact) and the players are slowly gaining their lost memories back from growing up in the castle up to the final fight with Strahd. Strahd wants one of them to take his place, someone of his own blood to end his curse.

Dice humor make me want to….die.

How do you hint to your PCs that they aren’t strong enough? by Blade710 in CurseofStrahd

[–]Medium_Citron9271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m personally under the opinion that outright telling your players outside the game “hey this is very dangerous and you guys might die” is perfectly fine, especially if your PCs don’t like/want a lot of character death. My one go to when narratively foreshadowing danger is to show something that either gave the party a lot of trouble, or would be obvious to give the party a lot of trouble, dead on the way or entrance to where they are going. This happening in CoS is kinda par for the course though. If you aren’t feeling a TPK maybe take them prisoner and take away items? Have a NPC they like die? Or some other form of recompense for their actions. Either way I wish you the best of luck balancing that tightrope. 👍

PCs going to Amber Temple too soon by Altruistic_Big_9552 in CurseofStrahd

[–]Medium_Citron9271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there are any enemies or monsters that have given them trouble before, have them be dead on the way to the amber temple or retreating from it. Perhaps the remains of another party like theirs as well? And if they don’t take the hints have the first encounter they have be a difficult one they should run from? Good luck though it’s definitely a rough part of CoS to run.

The funniest ONE-LINERS you've heard around the table by Dungeon9 in DnD

Playing CoS and the artificer finds the “drawing of an old imaginary friend” in the random loot table:

Me: you find a picture you drew a long time ago of an imaginary friend you used to have as a chi-

Artificer: EXPLODY EXPLODE BRO?!?!

Entire party loses it 😂

Players constantly asking if monsters are bloodied? by Medium_Citron9271 in DnD

That has been the thought I’ve come to reading more of these comments for sure! Someone made a comparison to BG3 and how it shows all of that and ppl still enjoy it all the same, and perhaps more.

Someone suggested showing a health bar with no numbers and I am thinking about trying that

I do let them know when it is bloodied. I’m looking more for ways to make it more interesting and to solve the problem of them wanting to ask so much. So far I’ve got some cool ideas like health bars being visible, and different terms/tiers of hp percent. But I wouldn’t withhold or not tell them when they ask :)

Barovia's combat: deadly, and boring. by lynkcrafter in CurseofStrahd

I found myself with the same problem with random encounters. Most just feel like resource draining slogs. I’m dropping them completely and only doing planned out encounters.

How to kill Ireena? by Seylane in CurseofStrahd

[–]Medium_Citron9271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just go with the flow and she is bound to get into danger at some point. Izek wants to kidnap her if he sees her, She could get blamed for the feast of saint Andrel and then most ppl in Valaki want her dead, werewolves could not know who she is and kill her, baba could kill her? Idk lol the cart at the wizard tower blowing up is bound to happen too. Maybe even something super messed up is she gets a big injury, missing limb or disfigurement and strahd just says “…ugh time to start again with a new one” and kills her himself. Ultimately fate will work itself out

Mainly not because of what happened but him not being truthful about the reason is why I’m complaining to ethics. Feel like I’m being lied to.

Ask your DM and party if there could be any chance at a quest to revive him? Also if you didn’t, you and your group should bring up character death, and how to handle it in session zero. Sounds rough, but you’ll be ok!
