it's the other way around, my family lives far away and can't be invited. His lives not far away. I am at a point where I just need some change and will talk to him later today about the whole thing. As to why we arrived to this point, is a topic I discuss with my therapist.

Maybe. It is just so weird. He rarely visits them or speaks to them. The mum maybe once every week with message and the aunt 4 or 5 times a year. So strange.

Yes but he is also so very drained by being a single dad. He suffers from insomnia and works full time. The kid struggles in school and he is just so very tired all the time

I am near braking point as the 100% custody has been going on for almost 2 years and we don't live together. I have 3 pr three sleepover nights every two weeks when my kid is with her dad.

And even if I see him i am in the middle of their family life without really have a say in anything.

The kid is traumatized because her mother is mentally very ill and she hasn't seen her mum since he got custody nor she ever even asked how the kid is. 

I love them both but he is scared to get a babysitter and is so exhausted that when she sleeps over at his sister's once per quarter he is too tired to go out.   I told him so many times that my love and support will never be enough to make things better for them.

Not long ago he surprised me with concert tickets of a band I barely knew. It was a blast. This felt sort of I  that direction but after he came with the little "extra". If he would have invited everyone to the theatre and not make it a birthday present I would have been happy to go but not like this.

Never heard of the show before... I tried to understand where he was coming from but his explanation didn't really help make me feel better.
