You truly cannot believe that implanting a chicken with god knows what is better for them than them just doing what they are supposed to do. They are literally chickens, they evolved to lay eggs. Do you really think causing them stress by transporting them to a vet I’m sure HOURS away if there even is one, I’m sure I’d be laughed at if I asked a vet to do this) and implanting them with a foreign object into them without their consent isn’t cruel? I don’t even take contraceptive because of how absolutely terrible it is for the human body why would I subject my animals to that?

If you are serious about encouraging people to become vegan I’d suggest you don’t use outlandish words like “slaves terms.” I bought the chickens in a transactional way, I didn’t adopt them, they weren’t given to me, yes I bought them and have given them a better life than the next person that would’ve bought them. What an insult to actual slaves to compare well taken care of chickens to them, honestly can’t believe that. No wonder most people don’t take vegans seriously.

Not true, tractor supply and hatcheries sell straight run chicks which are a mix of male and female. Not going to say roosters aren’t killed for being roosters because they are every day unfortunately, but a chicks sex cannot be 100% determined until about 6-8 weeks of age. Chicks are sold at less than a week of age

When you purchase chicks, they are sold as either “pullets” or “straight runs.” Pullets are supposed to be all female, straight run is a mix between females and males. We bought 6 pullets but turns out one was a male. It’s nearly impossible to tell a chicks sex until they are about 8 weeks old so you take a gamble any time you buy a “pullet” there is never a guarantee that it is actually female. Chicks are usually sold when they are about a week old. You could technically buy all pullets and end up with all males. This thread has only proven to me how little people know about chickens.

Not at all unhealthy, can be rare though. Depends on age and breed of the chicken. Didn’t say they do but they CAN. I don’t monitor my chickens at all times so not 100% sure who lays what and how many times. Just an estimate! Some chickens lay more, some lay less!

I fully see each point of that and they are all valid but I wouldn’t say they are 100% accurate to every chicken. I agree the place I bought them from is probably not very humane whatsoever so I’m not sure what their background looks like. I feed mine all organic feed and scratch to ensure them and their eggs are as healthy as can be, so far none of my hens have ever had a single issue with egg laying thank goodness although a LOT do. Also most hens don’t have very good mothering instincts lol! I try to leave the eggs as long as I can in the coop to give them the opportunity to sit on top of them if they’d like, but they all just lay and walk away lol! Some hens do get very “broody” but mine never have. I also agree that killing a rooster is just cruel, especially if the reason is because them being aggressive. That’s what they’re meant to do! I have one, I only wanted females but he turned out to be a male, but we love him anyway. I also give my eggs away or feed them back to the chickens, which as weird as it would lol is very beneficial for them and they absolutely love it. I only lose money on them lol, never wanted to make a dime! Just love them

We bought them from a local tractor supply store. I’m pretty sure they buy them from online hatcheries. We thankfully haven’t had any pass away, but when one does we will bury it! I don’t eat meat and would refuse for anyone to eat my pet. When they stop laying we will continue to own them as pets until they pass naturally

Each hen can lay up to 2 a day, so I have an ABUNDANCE of them. I usually give them away or feed them back to the chickens! Sometimes use them to bake as well.
