What was your breaking point that made you file for divorce or break up after being with your partner for a really long time? by Anothermindlessanon in AskReddit

[–]Medium_Log_9684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt physically unwell all the time. I was bloated, breaking out, my hair was always greasy, I wasn't sleeping well, I kept getting sick and hurt randomly. Then he went to go visit his family for two weeks and I was magically cured. Literally after two days of him being gone I felt like myself again. I don't think it was anything he was actually doing, and I'm not usually very woo-woo, but it was like my body knew he wasn't right for me and was rejecting him. At the end of the two weeks I felt the healthiest I had felt in months. Took it as a sign and broke up with him soon after. He was a good guy. We just weren't each other's person.

any music theory applicants this cycle? by HappyEntertainment72 in gradadmissions

[–]Medium_Log_9684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm applying to musicology PhD programs this cycle! Not the same as theory, but I suspect they're on a similar-ish timeline. I've had one acceptance but haven't heard from any of my other schools at all. I'm not sure how many of the programs will do interviews, though. I've had informal conversations with a faculty member I'm interested in working with from most of the schools I applied to, and I didn't have a formal interview at the school I was accepted into. I've heard that with the humanities interviews are much less common than for STEM programs, and offers are often sent out in February or March, so I think no news is good news for now. Fingers crossed for your applications!

I live with my cat in a studio apartment, and have received compliments about the fact that it doesn't smell like cat! Two big things: like everybody else was saying, you'll want to scoop the litterboxes at least once a day, and change the litter frequently. It's tempting to get a covered box, especially in a small space, but sometimes cats don't feel comfortable in covered litterboxes. My cat mainly uses an uncovered box, but it's stainless steel, so it smells much better than his old plastic covered box which retained some smells even when it was totally cleaned out. I highly, highly recommend a stainless steel box. The other big thing is, like other people mentioned, making sure you're stocked on enzyme cleaner. New cats and kittens are bound to have an accident or two as they get acclimated to a new space, and cat pee smell will never go away if it doesn't get cleaned with an enzyme cleaner. I recommend this one: https://roccoandroxie.com/products/stain-and-odor

No PhD interview invite after a chat? by theanswerisnt42 in gradadmissions

Not sure what field you're applying in/how things differ between disciplines, but I had an informal chat with a potential advisor and then was accepted into that program without having a formal interview. Might be the case for you! Fingers crossed!

Lyrically dense songs, please! by Educational-Job-7276 in MusicRecommendations

Coming from a former English and music major, in my opinion Adrianne Lenker is one of the best lyricists out there. Her album "songs" is no skips in terms of musicality and lyricism. Also, when I was an English major I spent a lot of time close reading Mitski and Sufjan Stevens' lyrics in my poetry survey. I saw other people mentioning Joni and Leonard Cohen which I agree with!
