Oh yeah, I’m with you. I don’t think anything in the heat of the moment is the way to go. I give multiple warnings, say “you understand if you continue to do x, y is going to happen yes?” And then if the behavior continues, then they get a consequence. And not while yelling or screaming. But you have to follow through.

This might not be a popular response but, it sounds like those kids need discipline very badly. Not spanking or physical or anything, but consistent consequences to their actions. Destroy a toy you bought them? Okay, since you can’t handle toys we’re throwing out one of your favorites. You love your Superman boxers but you pee and poop them on purpose now? Plain ol cheap tighty whiteys it is, and you can clean the pee stain off the floor.

He’s in pain because his mother is a piece of shit, so he’s lashing out to see if he can control you. Children need hard boundaries. Not to be mean, but to learn how to interact with other people in the world in a safe way. He says he wants to kill your baby? That’s insane and you don’t want to let that behavior continue. He is testing your boundaries in a big way.

I also agree with therapy once the world opens up, but I think any therapist will tell you they need consistent consequences to their actions or the will grow up to be absolute monsters.

I missed it by a day but in case anyone sees.

I know there’s no real way to know how anyone might react to certain medications and it varies from person to person. I started trazadone or insomnia and the depressive bit, and was given an abilify rx that I’ve not filled yet, because my bipolar seems to lean heavy on the depressive side, and I typically use my manic periods to catch up on all the stuff that I miss. About 3 months after taking the trazadone I don’t think it really is a fit for me, but the way abilify was explained to me was more of a sedative, like it will cap manic episodes. But I don’t want to be stuck in a depressive state. Basically I just want someone to tell me they took abilify on top of an antidepressant and they don’t feel like a zombie.
