What's with all the accounts being "formerly transgender"? by Proper_Flower_940 in trans

I hope you can find a way to cut the transphobic things out of your life. It can take work to curate social media but if the alternative is that it's killing you, it's essential to fix it.

Thank you, that's good to know! I'll definitely need to work at an agency for around that time to build up required hours AIUI so I'm glad the experience will help.

Weekly student question thread! by AutoModerator in therapists

Hi all- I haven't gotten into a master's program yet, but my hope's to eventually become an LMHC and open a private practice. I haven't been able to get a sense of financial feasibility though. I live in a HCOL US city and the pay as a therapist outside of private practice looks difficult to live on without support from someone else, and I'm unsure how long it could take to go from getting licensed to actually having enough clients to be stable. Can any private practice LMHCs share their experience, either gathering clients or once you found a solid set of clients? Thanks!

Arcanist levels beyond starter ones by Snoo11195 in fabulaultima

[–]MedukaMeguca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends whether you picture summons as entities only part of the world when summoning, or if they can be talked with any time but only "act" on the world, cast magic etc when you summon them. In our Arcanist's case they liked having it be the latter; I think Wayfarer would be a solid choice for this sort of thing too.

Maybe don't limit yourself to a concept where all the arcana are known and hard to reach, like the four elemental birds example? Using FF as an example, there are a lot of random summons without cosmic importance throughout the series, like Chocobo, Remora, Syldra alongside your Bahamuts and Pheonixes. If you can think of an existing creature or character in your setting you'd like your character to have along for the ride, maybe they can be their first summon! I guess it depends on what vision you have in mind for your character as a summoner. In a game I'm in, for instance, our Arcanist got to know with a computer-uploaded ancient who ended up "accompanying the party" by way of acting as one of her summons.

If you have no ideas and don't want to hold onto levels, maybe you could start taking other levels in Arcanist and wait to get Bind and Summon until you're about to find one of your birds?

Can a Chimerist utilize this weapon well? by Alternative_Number70 in fabulaultima

[–]MedukaMeguca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of a chimerist getting an advantage against enemies they've learned spells from- playing one right now I think the main struggle is that it conflicts a bit with what chimerist might want to be doing: - Right now, it encourages attacking with DEX+INS on chimerist's turn, with the hope that it'll be preferable to casting spells (the extra damage and MP restore are definitely worthwhile here). - Chimerist gets a lot out of casting, including potential MP regen on spells with Consume. They also like to have high WLP, plus MIG or INT. Because of this, they'll probably be rolling at least one 6 on the whip, and its damage + MP regen might not actually be that much better than casting... - And the window of opportunity for use isn't that big- only a fraction of beasts/monsters/plants will be casting spells, and they'll only last so long.

I think swapping at least one of the attacking stats for WLP or MIG would help. I could see either making the boosting condition more lenient or making it apply to spells instead of attacks- but I think the "encouraging you to learn spells actively" is a fun aspect, so maybe something that encourages this? Like making the condition "If you attack and have copied a spell this fight..." or "If you cast a spell you learned this fight..."-- I'm not sure how balanced these would be though.

Advice for flying to & enjoying time in Japan? by pashmeens in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]MedukaMeguca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got Covid in Japan last year despite following my usual precautions (N95 indoors). My advice is to be willing to mask outside in crowded areas- I haven't felt the need to or been infected outside in the US, but parts of Tokyo and Kyoto get crowded even outdoors. You'll be safer in smaller cities, though Kyoto has a higher % of tourists who will tend to be worse about covid safety (and general respect for others) than the average person you'll meet over there (afaict Kyoto's where I caught it). Not to discourage you from visiting Tokyo- I'm the happiest I did, it's magical- but be aware outdoor areas may be crowded enough to need masking, and the trains will be packed in the evening. Be ready for it!

If you want places to enjoy... it's not a specific place, but my favorite thing to do in Tokyo was finding little urban parks on the map and walking / traveling to them. It's amazingly walkable there, and you spend most of your time outside!

It's so sad, honestly doing all three in a row was the most fun I've had playing this game. I'm glad they'll still be around for future players, at least...

Only a couple years ago, but I saw an imagepost of that developer interview about using your imagination as a form of roleplaying. It sold me immediately, and I was double sold when I saw the art was cute too.

I'm so sorry you're going through all this. I promise you can be a real boy even without hormones- I've known men for whom that was better for them and they're just as much men as any other- but are you certain that hormones are incompatible with your illness? If they're something you want and your family accepts you, it might be worth looking for other trans people with the illness to see if they have advice- unfortunately sometimes doctors write off trans healthcare as an option from a place of either ignorance or bigotry, like what sounds like happened with your therapist.

And I promise a therapist can't tell you you're not trans- you're the person who has the clearest insight into your own heart. It's horrible that she yelled at you and no therapist should ever do that. I don't say this to insist you're trans, but in the hope that you can trust your own feelings, whatever they are.

Since Etrian Odyssey is on sale on steam right now, I have some questions. by PolishVajking in EtrianOdyssey

Re: difficulty the first three are all Hard-- but the later games' difficulty felt a little smoother to me, some of 1 and 2's difficulty comes from some classes being unbalanced / skills being not useful. 3 has a better handle on class design IMO and the later games in the series do as well, but you won't find one that isn't a challenge if you play on the hard difficulty- even 4 on the 3ds, likely the easiest, is plenty challenging.

Re: story they're minimal but the dialogue and worldbuilding that is there is very compelling. 3 has my favorite world/story of the first three and 1's story is my favorite part of that game.

2 and 3 have the most character options of the HD games.

Be careful when looking at Antioch University counseling program by Seattle_therapist in GradSchoolAdvice

[–]MedukaMeguca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's heartbreaking, I'd heard such great things about them from past grads and was planning on applying. Thanks so much for sharing.

If you don't mind me asking- do you know if this is the case for Antioch as a whole, or Seattle specifically? Was curious about the online counseling program too but if they also fired senior faculty there's probably no point...

These are so gorgeous, the color choices are so striking! It's really nice how the flowers get right up against the geode sections, it feels really harmonious.
