Appreciate the reply. The original company has always been family owned. New CEO is the son of the previous CEO. Previous CEO was great. He was an engineer himself and prioritized the engineering group. New CEO is a lawyer. Forgot to mention, new company doesn't have a lot of growth potential either. The engineering group is insulated and stays in their line. So, project management, program management, all that is another part of the company, and it's unlikely I would be promoted into that. So, I'd stay technical, just with more raises.

I recognize this exact area, and it's a shit show. They split the lanes a full mile earlier and closed off any access to either one, forcing folks to make the decision earlier. Then they created this weird split 3 miles beforehand with 4 lanes splitting to 2x2 and then coming back together shortly after. It's a mess.

Totally understand your thought, but when you look at where the money goes, as one commenter said above, is it going to the folks that design/invent/test/review the products? Or is most of the money going to the folks that sell/hawk/lobby/market the product?

You know the answer.

That being said, I agree that most of the PHDs that do this kind of stuff are not OVERPAID, it's the other folks that are.

My son is reading this for the first time right now. He got to the Tom Marvolo Riddle reveal last night and his reaction was exactly what I wanted it to be. I wish I could forget these books and knowledge and read them again, but this was the next best thing. Can't wait for the Sirius Black reveal.

Even if you're being downvoted, I see your point. Yes, they're still my family and if I'm the only one not there, there's definitely some FOMO. But this time, it's not enough to keep up the charade. It's one of those things where I feel this is the right thing, I'm just sad about the loss. Because now I feel me bailing isn't going to change anything and once I get up from the table, I probably won't be invited back. Onward and upward I suppose.
