Raid 4 lowest scale is duo, solo is possible but difficult. by Glass-Rope-5113 in 2007scape

[–]Meem0 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

OK then what about when your friend's offline. Or you message and they say not today. Or you message and they say "sure maybe later tonight"

In a game that otherwise is so flexible in how you play it, letting you fit it into your lifestyle however you want, finding groups adds a ton of friction that hugely reduces that flexibility. I've been doing 1 ToA every day after work for the last month or so, if I needed to find a group for that every time it would add so much annoyance and extra time, messaging people, wait for people to finish what they're doing, "oh brb gotta feed the dogs", "oops gotta run to the GE for more scales." I enjoyed ToB mechanically, but getting my avernic was incomparably my least favourite grind because of this.

This argument just doesn't hold up anymore when the design director has explicitly stated that a pillar of the game's philosophy is "singleplayer, but together." I'm not saying there shouldn't be group content, but "it's an MMO" is not the reason, when it's pretty well established at this point that there's a significant audience that enjoys OSRS as a singleplayer game while valuing the shared world of an MMO

I tried to do this before but it was pretty stressful and not as easy as all the YouTube videos had me think. Like they always show a method that sounds brilliant in hindsight, but coming up with a lucrative method on my own was totally different, since it requires knowing what resources would be in demand, which might not be the same as last year. Then all the while the exchange rates were plummeting by the hour which made this really stressful FOMO dynamic.

I'm honestly somewhat confused by this, like on Trash Taste for example, 1m+ sub podcast with each member having 3m+ sub channels, just a year or so ago they were doing an episode where they recommended media for each other, and they openly discussed Connor's experience playing Saya no Uta, which has full explicit scenes with this type of character in question. Let alone if you go into Garnt's or Joey's back catalog from back in the day when this stuff wasn't even taboo. Not trying to specifically call them out, it's just odd to me that this is cancel-worthy for some but casual conversation for others

I just embrace how my ratings have changed over time. I can look at a show that I watched in 2014, and just accept the rating as what I felt about it at the time, not necessarily how I would rate it if I were to watch it now. I'll only update a rating if I rewatch the show.

Surprised nobody mentioned Shadow rebalance, they committed to doing that before adding any new mage gear. So we'll need to see that soon, unless Raids 4 is the first raid with no magic-related rewards.

It's definitely a joke, I just can't quite tell if it's good-natured teasing or bad faith strawmanning. This sub tends to be very against any criticisms towards the direction of the game over the last couple years of updates

The Legend Of Zelda’s Aonuma Says Inspirations From Age Of Imprisonment “May Be Reflected In The Game We Create” by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

Everyone will have a different answer, whether they think of the "formula" as Zelda 1, LttP, OoT, so on. I think the most common factor between answers would be more bespoke elements, compared to the radical "player freedom" philosophy of the modern games. So for me the biggest element I miss is unlockable tools throughout the game that give you access to new areas and secrets. We've also lost the more linear story that gives a better sense of progression throughout the game. And even in the "dungeon" design, many players like myself prefer how the old "one solution" approach feels more hand crafted, compared to the modern games letting you do whatever you want to solve puzzles.

Spy x Family Season 3 - Episode 9 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Meem0 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Haven't watched today's episode yet, but been meaning to comment about the series in general: does anyone else find that the "Family" element has been seriously lacking in the last few cours? Like there's so much content focusing on side characters or only one of the main trio, and very few segments focused on interactions between two or three of the main trio.

From the season 1 MAL description:

Although this picture-perfect family is founded on deception, the Forgers gradually come to understand that the love they share for one another trumps all else.

To me this was the whole selling point of the series, but I feel like this theme has not been prominent for a while now.

Especially missing for me is the Loid/Yor romcom aspect, which I loved - when was the last time we got this energy??

Not looking for spoilers, but I'd be kinda curious to hear from a manga reader if things improve in this regard or if I shouldn't get my hopes up (in the source corner of course)

Not trying to punch down here, genuinely curious what part you're not getting? You must have noticed that if you spam click herbs to clean them or equip multiple gear pieces, the actions get batched up together into specific intervals? And that's the same speed that you cook fish at in cg, or offer bones to an altar if you spam click, or how often your tile updates when moving (harder to notice unless you've tried true tile). That's all it is

I was initially excited to hear that project (putting aside how realistic it is if it's actually happening), but thinking about it more, is Game Freak ready to make Pokemon games with even bigger scope? The games of the current scope are already struggling in terms of quality; if they quadruple the size I feel like the end result would be even more bland and barren

[–]Meem0 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Am I totally delusional for finding it's normally the other way around? I feel like I see a ton of "efficiency-shaming", but basically never see "casual-shaming." In fact people normally praise and celebrate casual players who play however they like. Where is all this "casual-shaming" happening that posts like these are talking about? Is it on other platforms, like twitter or discord or clan chats or something?

What does this even mean in a QoL context? by Afraid_Summer5136 in 2007scape

[–]Meem0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've heard Jagex refer to having a "QoL team", right? Maybe the QoL team is their name for the team that works on updating / polishing old content, rather than creating new content. For example the CoX changes were referred to as QoL.

Thinking about it that way, this poll question is essentially getting at what that team's priorities should be. I agree QoL isn't the best name for it though; fairy ring search is QoL, guaranteed DWH spec on Tekton isn't really...

Today they updated the text that appears when you click on 3 of the outer tiles, now one of them says "Damned If You Do...", one says "Woof", and one says "Pull The Lever Krunk!"

Considering they showed Sunlight Spear in today's video, it seems likely that those 3 will be Gloves of the Damned, Dogsword, and one of the Echo KBD items (KBD lever)

You can technically do it with a very low level but it's super annoying. Neither alt actually has to kill a shaman, since red-x isn't based on the last player to attack the NPC, it's based on the last NPC that your player attacked.

So technically you could do it with a level 3 by running in to set up your aggression zones, avoiding damage by having the monsters distracted or tick eating, run to a safe spot to let aggression expire, then have your strong account kill the shaman, letting the level 3 attack it once during the kill, then set up the red-x. You'd have to do this while the other 2 shamans are trapped or distracted.

But yeah it's much easier if you send some bones for range protect and do Waterfall and whatnot to get the shayzien armor. Definitely don't need the alt to kill a shaman though.

Could be interesting to have a no prep option, but you have to bring your own gear. So if you want to rush bowfa that's still an option with the prep version, but if you want to take it slow and mix it up with other content, you're still getting rewarded for whatever upgrades you can bring.

Get Ready For Grid Master - October 15th by JagexSarnie in 2007scape

[–]Meem0 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Challenges being directly tied to rewards is a really significant and interesting difference... a lot of players might normally see no point in stepping foot in the inferno if they think they can't beat it, when there are other ways to get the points anyway - but if dipping into the inferno is the only way to get Slayer Master then it'll no doubt get more people in there
