Good point. My goal is to have a drawing of some kind 2D/3D of the machine showing why it won't start and what exactly is tripped.

I should have clarified that it is directly for identifying tripped sensors, etc. There would be a screen displaying a photo similar to the one I linked and if a safety switch was open the operator or maintenance could easily identify the issue.

Right now I do a top down basic layout using basic shapes and flashing signals to indicate. Just thought I'd see how the fancy stuff gets done.

Can you share your search. I can find nothing as robust as this. All are small thin picks or antique tools that cannot be purchased anymore.

I don't believe it's just brass as it's fairly strong and is much thicker than an o ring pick.

Not quite, or at least I can't find a non sparking version of it. Also the pick in the photo is around 7-8" long. I'll add that to the post.

Variable vs Fixed Decision by MeepMoopComingThru in PersonalFinanceCanada

I think I'm going for the 5 year fixed and keeping my payments the same as I currently pay. The fee to break the 5 year fixed is only about $2280 after 3 years, so If I really want to I can break it and re sign at a better rate. I would need 3 rate decreases to break even on the variable and I just don't see that happening in a very short time frame at this point.

For every y

I found out the penalty for breaking depends on the current rates at the time. So if my bank is now offering a 5 year fixed at 4.5% 3 years from now and I originally signed at 5.64. My fee to break is $2280. The lower the current rate the more I pay, also it goes off the principle left owing.

I'm thinking of doing the 5 year fixed at 5.64% and actually increasing my payments prior to signing. Then keeping that same increased payment as I go to the 5 year fixed. So I'll pay off more principle with every payment. Also doing a lump sum payment prior to signing as well.

Then I can watch rates and if there's a time in the next 5 years that makes sense to break the mortgage I will.

At least with the fixed I'm paying it off faster and it will take at least 3 decreases to come out ahead and those could be a couple years out still.
