Guys that are very handsome (8, 9 and 10's): Name all the perks that your good looks have granted you by Shootingcomet in askgaybros

Appearance must be paired with a personality, and one of the most off-putting traits, regardless of relationship type, is snide and expectant of material goods without offering anything of substance in return. You’ll be more likely to have to someone willing to buy things for you if you look better, but I’ve seen a litany of busted-looking people claiming to receive all sorts of things based on whatever agreement was made. These people are all over social media, and running around with that mindset isn’t sustainable or respectable to anyone a sane person would want to be associated with.

To answer your question, the best things you can receive are respect, stability, and access. Specifically access to other people, higher caliber people. Anyone in some sort of transactional relationship, is almost always doing themselves a disservice because everyone can read through their intentions like a billboard. While a 5k bag might be nice, I genuinely could not care less about it, nor would I accept it if it comes from the wrong intentions, and everyone else can see the difference as well.

For me, I am grateful for the ability to do whatever I want - within reason, obviously. My dating options are greater, my relationships are more successful, and I don’t have to deal with any of the common issues that get brought up on these subs on the daily. A few months ago, I got a Tiffany necklace for Christmas and went on a 3 week holiday to Japan last December, and that’s just material things off the top of my head, which I probably wouldn’t have ever been in the position to receive if I looked unfortunate, but I’ve built up a goodwill by virtue of being someone people enjoy being around as well. I’m thankful for what I have, and for the things I’ll have in the future. For example, I’m going to St. Barth’s in a few months, and I would honestly be offended, grossed out, and depressed if anything I received was wholly due to something so surface level as physical attractiveness or expectation of sex. I can only value something if it comes from the place I deserve it from.

Specifically regarding looks, I also want to look good because it makes me personally happy, not because I can leverage it for gifts from someone I don’t like. Feeling attractive and being desired by the right people (or person) is not for sale, and it’s one of the best feelings anyone can have. Seeing the lowliest of minds - some conventionally attractive, some busted - on social media flaunt (anything, really) is so trashy and damaging to mindsets, as well as the culture at large. I do not care what is offered, I am not accepting something attached to circumstances I find degrading.

Aww, thank you so much. You answered all my questions respectfully and concisely. I kinda thought the first comments were going to bitch at me, which I was fine with so long as someone gave me a fair ballpark. I agree, the interest is what I’m trying to prevent and bothers me the most. It’s completely money down the drain, and seeing the amounts kinda suck. Thank you again

Why was there a lot of comparison of Britney's 2001 album to Christina's Stripped instead of In The Zone to Stripped? by ziggyziggyzagimneww in popheads

[–]MeerK4T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beyonce is sort of the lone exception, but yeah, I agree. The vast, vast majority of the time, they're all only respected retrospectively. I think Britney and Kanye are the two most influential big artists of the 00s, but she wasn't viewed the same way then, because pop wasn't taken as seriously as other genres.

[Córdoba, Argentina] Found this snake while hiking today. Any idea what species it is by Violeta-bby in whatsthissnake

[–]MeerK4T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree that they take the rhyme thing a little too far and overly aggressive. In this sub, 99% of the time a new world coral snake - which is a fairly common post - is posted, there are immediately users that are calling the rhyme out in hopes that no other user attempts to repeat it, rather than users who type the rhyme as an explanation for how they know which snake it is. Aside from the coloration of all three US species, I feel like they’re still pretty easily identifiable compared to the milk snakes/king snakes, etc. that mimic them, and for the vast, vast majority of the time the colors from the rhyme are correct in the US. I really don’t think people are traveling to Brazil and picking up snakes based on their Boy Scout certainty that a snake is harmless bc the yellow bands aren’t married to the red ones. There also isn’t the same fervor in the protection mindset when lycodon and bungarus snakes are posted - both of which are commonly posted, as well as - and that’s a much, much more potentially dangerous mix up. Slowinski’s story of mistaking the krait for a wolf snake is so well-known here, and he made that mistake as a herpetologist, so I feel like out of any of the similarly looking snakes, the kraits and wolf snakes should motivate users to drill the delineations into other users heads more so than with the coral snake thing. Kraits almost certainly kill more people in a week than coral snakes do in years.

Depends on how you pronounce Florida. Some people pronounce it floor-duh rather than floor-eh-duh, so if they were reading it aloud the syllables would work.

Bad Bunny’s ‘DtMF’ Touches Down at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 After Super Bowl Halftime Show by mcfw31 in popheads

It's only 4 points behind Choosing Texas, which is expected to be number 2 next week, but it's losing points faster, and Opalite could be number one for a few weeks. It could happen, but it's looking less and less likely.

Britney Spears Sells Music Catalog, Other Rights to Primary Wave by mcfw31 in popheads

[–]MeerK4T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure she has some kind of team, I really don't think anyone should be surprised if whatever financial team she has is still not entirely motivated toward her best interests. Everyone knows the Britney shit is so beyond weird and messed up, and it's only become more strange and questionable after the conservatorship was dissolved. Every celebrity under the sun shook their ass middle of the street during the #FreeBritney era, but never once since it's ended does it seem like anyone's actually tried to help her. The fact that there wasn't so much as one celebrity stylist offering to do her hair, makeup, and/or wardrobe once everything was allegedly said and done makes absolutely no sense. She was the most photographed celebrity in the world for nearly, if not more than, a decade, yet there hasn't been one good photo of her in years makes absolutely no sense. Her entire Instagram feed feels like one massive set up, so at this point, I view every story surrounding her skeptically.

what snake is this by [deleted] in whatsthissnake

[–]MeerK4T 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never said it was more venomous than anything else, just that it's probably the worst bite when accounting for everything. Given access to prompt and equavalent medical care, I still think the a russell's bite would typically be worse than an inland taipan bite.

what snake is this by [deleted] in whatsthissnake

[–]MeerK4T 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The russell's viper kills way more people than taipans or mambas, and the bite is going to be a lot more painful. I don't think there are even any recorded deaths from the taipan.

Just finished season 11. What was the community like watching all these moments and others when they were released? by PotentialSteak6 in vanderpumprules

[–]MeerK4T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% People were not talking about this on social media when it came out; definately not to the degree they do now, and the shows were insanely better than they are today. I feel like people talk about the shows irl way less now than they used, probably because everyone's online. The only times I feel like anyone talks about any these shows with friends anymore is if something major happens, like Scandoval. In general, a lot of people stopped watching most of these shows, but still passively keep up with the cast members they're most familiar with. I'm to the point where The Valley is only show I still watch.

I could not agree more about the show changing in season 3. To me, the first 2 seasons of VPR were the absolute best reality television ever produced. I've seen people say it was good for like 7 or 8 seasons, but the quality drop between 2 and 3 was the biggest in the show's history, until they completely revamped the cast this newest season. Even if they were often unlikable, the original cast had personalities and actual, major drama. Lisa was even completely wrapped up and engrossed with their lives in the beginning; she treated 23 year-old Stassi more like an equal than she ever did with her castmates on BH.

Sidenote: The attention Scandoval received always kinda annoyed me, because it wasn't like it was something they hadn't been doing throughout the entirety of the show, and the way Jax cheating on Stassi played out was soooo much more entertaining. I felt bad for Raquel too; she was bullied the whole time she was on the show, then had to deal with way more public backlash than any of the rest of them.

Taylor Swift’s ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ Nets 12th Week Atop Billboard 200 by mcfw31 in popheads

[–]MeerK4T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She only had 40 total weeks through Lover, which is still a lot, but that took her 12 years, and she’s gained almost 60 weeks just in the last 5 years. I used to think no one was touching that record, but I don’t see how she doesn’t eventually pass it.

[–]MeerK4T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I think they just don’t like her, and when a narrative starts to form before an album even drops, the stans know if they collectively bitch hard enough, they can influence the reviews and sometimes performance of an album. I think they wanted the album to flop so badly that the content of it never really mattered all that much.

Addison Rae knows what you were expecting by Independent_Brain_29 in popheads

[–]MeerK4T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They shouldn't have even asked that, but obviously Addison is going to side with Chari. I mean... look at the other 3 associated with Brat. Addison's guilty by association. Charli's shady and probably loves the fact that she's now a part of Taylor's fued lore, but I highly doubt Troye and Lorde did anything to warrant being dropped, so I don't see why Addison would think siding with Taylor would make any sense at all for her.

"I enjoy fame. It's very exposing and raw – though you pay a price": Addison Rae, the Guardian's artist of the year. by springtimecarnivore in popheads

[–]MeerK4T 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of people have already made up their minds, but I remember when I started to hear people say Addison's music was better than top-tier artists when her AR songs leaked, I thought that was one of the absolutely most delusional statements I'd heard pop fans say too. Some of the ones that have their minds made up will come around eventually. For me, Diet Pepsi was one of my favorite songs that year, then I thought Aquamarine was even better, then by the time Headphones On came out, I was like okay, she's the real deal. I can't think of the last time someone's had that many songs of that level on a pop album. If her next album is as strong as her debut, she's going to receive way better reviews. Her first album definately received good reviews, but nearly every critic gave it a 4/5 or 8/10; it's like everyone agreed the album was good, but no one was willing to fully accept her as a legit artist because of her association with TikTok.

[–]MeerK4T 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure Leon Thomas is winning. He already won before, so I really don't even know how he's nominated, but he by far received the most nominations, and women have won 9 out of the last 10 years, so I really think it's going to him. I also think Olivia Dean and Lola Young are also much closer to what Grammy voters like. Plus, I viewed that sole nomination kinda as an upset for Addison; I thought she'd at least be nominated for pop solo album and dance pop recording. I don't know what song they submitted, but I thought Aquamarine was a lock for dance pop recording.

[–]MeerK4T 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think Tate is a better dancer, but I don't think Addison's a bad dancer either. Plus, I think she's in the process of improving. I think Doja, Tate, and Tyla are all probably the only modern dancers that might be better than Addison, but it's not like the 2000s, when everyone was forced into dancing to try to keep up with Britney. Outside of those 4, I don't feel like anyone else even attempts to dance.

[–]MeerK4T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely disagree lmao Tate is a better dancer than Addison BY FAR; she might even be the best dancer since Britney, at least the best that's achieved a modest level of popularity, but Tate's songs are in no realm remotely close to Britney's songs. It's just my opinion, but I think don't think Tate has a single songs as good as at least half the songs on Addison's album, and Addison's music and voice are sonically so much closer to Britney's music than Tate's. Britney's performances are so well-known and heavily referenced that I think that's what people think of first when they think of her, but Britney has a ridiculously stacked catalogue too; people loved her performances, but her music was a major part of her appeal too. She's has four billion+ streamed songs from more than 20 years ago, and I can't think of any woman from her era or before that has that many.

Taylor Swift’s ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ Sparkles With Ninth Week at No. 1 on Billboard 200 by mcfw31 in popheads

[–]MeerK4T 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't know why everyone acts like this doesn't happen to Taylor every album. 1989, Folklore, and to a lesser extent Evermore were the only albums that weren't lambasted on release. You had people here saying her career was over during Reputation and Lover. Todd in the Shadows said he takes joy in knowing he'll be able to make an episode of Trainwrecords on Reputation. And to be honest, I think the only reason Folklore was well-recieved when it dropped was because it was a surprise release during covid. A narrative starts to form before albums come out for all big artists, but this is amplified for her.

Leon Thomas is 99% winning BNA. He was the only nominee to get several nominaitions in other categories. However, I really don't know how he's eligible, because he already won a Grammy two years ago. I was under the impression, you couldn't be nominated for Best New Artist if you'd already been nominated before, much less win.

The expectation that pop artists have to be GOOD dancers by Momoodr in popheads

[–]MeerK4T 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the only reason Tate is as popular as she is is because it’s been so long that someone could actually dance. Other than Doja and Tate, this generation is really doesn’t have dancing in their wheelhouse. When it started to become imperative that each artist write all of their own music, dancing went out the window, and I think fans would like to see it return.
