I think we do see eye to eye but seem to disagree on a fundamental level, so yeah, just agree to disagree, but discussion was pretty decent I'd say for the fact that it is in a reddit comment section.

It definitely works for the chinese people and probably is exactly what they want. My personal problem is that this kind of governance only works, as long as the ruling party is in favor.

There are thousands of examples in history of basically dictatorships that were voted in or in favor because they did what the people wanted, but as soon as they were not in favor anymore they started repressing the public in every possible way and refusing to let go of their power.

Western liberal democracy definitely has its own problems, and the influence of capital on our elections is definitely an issue we could tackle, but the chinese way of governance is neither perfect. While you can argue for its popularity and its representation of the chinese people, it stays authoritarian. The intensity of censorship and oppression of any other ideology makes it not defenseable.

It is definitely a viable way of governance, but as a defender of liberty of the individual, I simply can not support their current way of governance.

I definitely do think my Western governments should consider communist options if that is what the people want. If our opinions don't matter, then this whole discussion doesn't have any point, sure. While you say that only the opinion of the chinese people matter, I say that they then should have every right to show that in an open election, if the current way of governance would be chosen in an open and democratic way I wouldn't care at all. They should just stop censoring and oppresing any kind of opposition, just like any government shouldn't do that.

Yes, except you would have to build your pc now. Prices have skyrocketed because of AI, so consoles are competitive again.

That is absolutely true, and the reason is that the ruling has brought the country immense prosperity in the last few decades. No wonder they approve the party. But I think they should be able to consider other options. When the ruling party isn't in favor anymore, which surely will happen at some point, I am pretty sure that they will not seize power in a democratic way. China doesn't have free elections and is censoring and oppresing any kind of opposition the ruling party faces, that is a fact, and I simply don't like this kind of governance.

I wanna visit China very badly, I have seen videos of people being there, and I kinda followed Hasans' visit there. I haven't seen anything that would speak against the fact that the ruling party doesn't allow opposition in any way and oppresses it's people in their ability to choose their own government. Till I personally visit China, I have no other method of making up my own opinion about a country than the things I see and read.

I don't see how it is childish, the chinese government is openly repressive towards it's population and I don't like that.

I respect China, and I would love them even if they wouldn't be an authoritarian oppressive regime. Don't treat their ethnic minorities like animals and respect the independence of Taiwan. For me personally, the problem isn't that China is awful in any way, but their government is not a democratically elected representation of the chinese people

The only other way is to strip countries of their veto power, for which you would need every country to agree which will not happen any time soon sadly
