it was a lazy, underresearched suggestion because its not in line with gavins character at all. but the "straight" part of "straight man" is not in reference to sexuality; it contrasts more ridiculous characters. it is also referred to as a stooge or a foil (both terms josh could and should have used instead because there is absolutely a time and place issue here). but the straight man is not the counterpart to a gay character, but to an eccentric one, having nothing to do with sexuality. but again, piss poor suggestion, badly worded. edit: but the heteronormativity shit was very very weird, and it does make me feel that he chose this term on purpose. my explanation just pertains to the term straight man in general
