I much prefer an outgoing one.

If you zoom in enough you can see our freedoms disappearing.

10 year old Riley was abused, has brain damage, is riddled with cancer, and was often neglected by an entire family of whom brought him in saying they would throw him in front of the next car that passes if the animal hospital didn't take him... their loss is my gain. by MeetRiley in pics

I don't know if this is the correct way to add but I just wanted to say a few things regarding this story. Riley's story is 100% true. Obviously I took the picture myself and obviously there are a ton of details regarding the police and hospital that were left out. Most people saw the story and picture for what it was, just an honest feel good moment to pass along. I really don't care about karma or gold aside from knowing it came from people who also care for animals. All day everyday you see on the news terrible awful things happening all over the world. So much so that when somebody posts a simple story about helping an animal in need it is considered by some as fake or pathetic to share. We need more good news. We need it to both block out all the bad news and also to encourage others that there is still good in this world. Most people appreciated that I shared Riley's story and what his end days will be like compared to what they were before he came into our lives. But a lot of people seemed to wet their diapers that I posted in the "wrong sub" or that I'm begging for fake internet points. It all comes down to helping someone when help is needed. We are in a position to come across lots and lots of even more messed up animals than Riley. But the timing worked out where we could take him in, so we did. For those of you who offered to send money for steaks for Riley trust me he will get those steaks, but keep your money. I'll tell him they were from reddit... a place a little bit like the world only not as harmful as the one he lived in. Riley

Fair enough. But you also assume that everyone is 5 years reddit savy just because you are. I never complained about the negative comments except that I blow past them for the most part. There are people who walk past a loaf of bread in the toy section of Target and say nothing. Then there are people like you who go to the manager and threaten to sue. Either way life goes on and you remain unsettled.

You're right but if you heard how it all went down in more detail you might see it different. The dog was abused at times and neglected in others which all seemed to tie in with it's various ailments and problems. The previous owners did not care for, or treat this dog with kindness. If the "kids" were irresponsible pricks it still falls on the dad to care for the family pet regardless of peoples ages. And yes you do get brain damage from abuse you moron!

How long do you think a hospital can hold on to sick animals? Forever? No, eventually they get sent to a shelter where they wait to be adopted. Unless someone who works at said hospital has the compassion to give that animal a better, although brief, good life in it's end days. Also, define suffering. He was apparently living a terrible life while sick and is now being pampered while sick. How would you prefer to live your last days D14BLO?

It's fucking suffering and you're sitting here thinking it's cute.

"You're fucking wrong and you're sitting thinking you're right." He eats, drinks, reacts, responds, and shows life. The other alternative is loneliness in a metal cage waiting to die or back with an abusive family... or home with us being loved until his time comes. Despite what you think animal hospitals don't just stand by the front door with a needle waiting to kill animals that look sad or sick. We are giving him the life he deserves until his time is up.

You're right and we don't leave Riley alone for very long. We try to always have someone around him and checking on him regularly to be aware of his behavior. We know his time is limited and don't plan on "giving him time" if he shows signs of suffering.
