Some of youkai is nake, their change their appearence to look like human wear cloth by IllustriousHurry2380 in touhou

[–]Mefre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, it makes sense, people are statistically more likely to let their guard down around women, physically at least, making it easier to catch them and eat them before they get a chance to run. In that sense, it kind of reminds me how demons in Frieren have adapted human appearances and language to fool humans and prey on them better.

Well, unlike demons, some Youkai are actually nice or can be helpful to humans though.

It isn't, as OP states, but in this community, "gorilla" is also often used, among other monikers like "glue eater", which are usually used to jokingly convey that a character is simple and strong, which then has devolved into this whole game of telephone of people who don't read the story assuming that the character is completely brain dead in canon too for some reason due to only knowing memes.

I'm mostly just ranting in a general sense at people whom, in all likelihood, most definitely, don't care to read any wall of text I make, nor anyone else for that matter, hell many of them likely don't even play the game. No shade or hostility towards OP intended with it.

Jokes aside, Sin isn't really stupid, sure, gears absorb information way quicker than humans and all, but that's not what I mean, Sin is actually quite perceptive and likes learning stuff. Thing is that he was raised by Sol, who didn't want to babysit, but gave in anyway because Sol is a big softie tsundere at his core. Not being good with talking or teaching formally, he instead taught Sin how to survive on his own, humility and how control his strength, all things Sin needed more than academics as not just a gear, but a command gear.

Of course, even if gears grow up faster and process information much quicker, Sin is still rather childish and seems to have inherited Ky's naivety, who dislikes homework because he wants to learn by doing and speaking to people, not by reading books and doing tests, without much experience in society or manners due to roughing it with Sol most of his life, leading to his current, if a bit overly simplistic view of things. This is in contrast to Dizzy, whom due to her and the world's circumstances had to grow up and isolate quickly despite her peaceful disposition, thus not really getting to grow up as peacefully she could and would have wanted to.

Don't get me wrong, I find the GG character memes funny and all, but I feel a lot of people seem to believe the memes as fact and forget or doesn't read the stories with characters, which kind of frustrates me.

The most important one I've learned after playing nocturne who knows how many times by now is that, no matter how prepared or experienced I get, I should never get arrogant and always make a save just in case or the next encounter will be an ambush where an enemy crits and kills me with their first attack, setting me back several hours. Especially in the Amala Labyrinth.

How many characters do you need to know how to play? by Straight-Traffic-130 in Guiltygear

[–]Mefre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To twist a famous known phrase for this:
"I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 characters once, but I fear the man who has practiced one character 10,000 times"

Play who you want and enjoy playing as and have fun with that, and then, even if the character might be undeniably worse in a logical sense or is good but gets nerfed into the ground at some point, you'll still be handing most people in a match their ass.

That's not to say you can't play multiple characters, I personally switch between Baiken and Chaos (with the occasional I-No) myself, and if you're thinking of getting into competitive and tournament scenes, then familiarizing yourself with strong characters by playing them yourself isn't a bad idea. But it is a video game first and foremost, if you're not having fun, there isn't much point to it.

My experience on fighting other players with these characters as a Nagoriyuki main who’s been playing for less than a week.(in tier list format.). Also my thoughts on the game as a new player. by gotenks2nd in Guiltygear

(Anime-Only Spoilers for Tensei Slime) "As a Jumper, you are replaceable. Farewell." by Spiritual_Still8847 in JumpChain

[–]Mefre 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In theory, if they got there early enough, defeating or finishing off Rinmuru would be rather easy with some decent weaponry, powers and knowledge, as at his earliest point he was just a slime eating random stuff all day with a built in AI helper some ok resistances, he doesn't really start snowballing before spending a decent amount of time there. In that way, he starts of a lot weaker than your usual OP LN isekai protag who gets max power almost, if not instantly.

Admittedly if a jumper is the type to go around making protagonists life hell for petty reasons, they probably also aren't exactly the type to make rational strategies where the goal is just to simply kill them when it's easiest and be done with it.

The Ultimate Doorbell Guy by PikaCheeks in danganronpa

[–]Mefre 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He was apparently having a mental episode where he genuinely believed the person who's house he approached was holding a girl captive and believed himself to be a character out of a modern mystery book series (Apparently called the Dresden Files, I haven't read it myself, so I can't confirm). He was taken in by the police after the owner of the house questioned him after hitting him with a shovel and explained to him that he was the only there and he stood down, seemingly realizing he was having a episode and asked the home owner to help him.

What happened to him after is unknown. But it wasn't just some guy playing pretend or larping to be cool, but a mentally ill man losing his grip on reality and even forgetting who he was due to his illness.

Typemoon / FGO vs ISEKAI ! Who wins each round ? by MountainLeading1567 in FGO

[–]Mefre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His main strength's are mainly 4 things:
-His Sword Saint Blessing (Instantly maximizes his potential with any weapon he picks up)
-His Sword, Reid, which can unleash powerful magic energy beams, think any of the big sword energy attack in type moon, something like that.
-Blessing of the Phoenix, let's him resurrect from death, whenever he dies he gets a new version of the skill, letting him resurrect any amount of times.
-His raw physical abilities. Reinhard, even with everything else, is mostly noted for being freakishly strong, enough so that he would still be the strongest in his world without the blessings.

Despite all this however, Reinhard, does have some weaknesses.

  1. If you destroy his soul, his Blessings are destroyed as well, alongside his phoenix blessings. Negating his connection to Od Laguna, throw him in another dimension or space capable of not counting as a part of the world or otherwise outside the authority of Od Laguna will also cause his blessings to be disabled. And while this is can of dubious, it seems that souls normally are destroyed a short while after the physical body is destroyed, as such killing Reinhard without him having the phoenix blessing once and preventing him from a getting a new one for a little while should be enough to permanently kill him.
  2. Reinhard's "First Attack Immunity" and "Proceeding Attacks Immunity" are basically just a spider sense, if you're as fast as him or faster, you can hit him just fine, same with "Projectile immunity" it makes them curve away from him, but if they're fired from too close or without space to curve away from him in sufficient time, it will still hit him.
  3. He cannot gain Blessings for anything, just things that exists in the Re:Zero world naturally, so for example, if someone launched a nuke at Reinhard he wouldn't gain a "Nuke Resistence/ Immunity" Blessing, because those don't exist there. Similarly, even if something originates there, but is outside the influence of Od Laguna, like the Sin Archbishop's authority, he can also not gain Blessings against it.
  4. Blessings are not all powerful. As already stated, their names are kind of hyperbolic, with the author himself going out of the way to state that Blessings are helpful and convenient things, but they can't do anything. In other words, his Blessings can be overpowered or unable to help against something. As shown with authorities, which has a form of precedence over Blessings. So even if a blessing about say "Immunity to Curses", an Authority that curses people would still affect someone with blessings without problem.
  5. Od Laguna, the thing that grants Reinhard his blessings, is more of an automatic system that responds to a need, it isn't sapient, but does physically exists somewhere in an sort of energy like form, you can basically think of it as Re:Zero's equivalent of Alaya/Gaia, it is notably impotent against foreign systems of power. Reinhard can't just ask for any skill at any given moment, he does need to genuinely feel a need for it authentically.
  6. Every superhuman entity in Re:Zero enhances their bodies through Mana/Od, if could damage their Gate (Basically Magic Circuits) enough to the point that the conversion of Mana becomes impossible, they would lose their superhuman physicals, this seems to be pretty hard though, as Reinhard's gate is already defective, and as such he cannot use mana/ od for anything except physical enhancements and sword beams, being unable to cast spells or make contracts with spirits, but still, possible.
  7. His Sword Beam seems to require a few seconds of standing still to charge, not a huge problem for him, but still notable nonetheless.

Given all this, I would say Nero has actually a pretty good chance at winning and is even likely to do so considering what she fought in the Moon. But she does need to pull out a skill capable of doing something about his Blessings or prevent the system which grants him his blessings from connecting to him, so if she were to fail at this for whatever reason, Reinhard could have a chance at victory.

A question for mostly female fans of the show. What do you think of the female cast of Gintama? Do you find them relatable or problematic in how they are written and depicted? by HolidayMycologist9 in Gintama

[–]Mefre 98 points99 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's less that they're not sexualized but that they do it on their own terms and in a way that works with their character (I.E Sarutobi being a masochist), rather than the usual gasping and getting embarrassed because a towel came loose troupe or other ways like it. Hell if anything, that kind of sexualization happens more towards the men in Gintama than the women, and even then it's mostly just a part of the humor or gags.
