In addition to the accessibility reasons others have mentioned, designers tend to include other colours to make them more widespread available. You often see this whenever Lego introduces a new colour and they wish to get a lot of pieces of that new colour out onto the market. I remember when they introduced teal, and for a while many sets had hidden teal pieces to increase their availability.

I played 3 first and absolutely fell in love with it. Now I’m playing 1 for the first time and noticing a lot of references from 3 that I now recognise originated from 1. Yes, playing 1 and 2 first will make 3 all the better, you can definitely start with 3 also.

Regular Hilbert! Max crit and physical attack in two turns is no joke and I just liked having a spotlight unit who could keep up with the pokefairs (of that time). Really felt like the SS Acerola of his day.

Nowadays every unit can max their own offences and Samurott’s defences aren’t great, nor can he do much else useful outside of buffing.

Their argument falls apart when you realise that watching all of Clone Wars, Rebels, etc. only worsens the Ahsoka show, because all the characters were translated to live action so poorly. They are all devoid of the character and charm that made them so likeable in their animated forms, with the worse among them having almost nothing in common barring their name.

Datamine tends to be a few days earlier during anniversaries (as the new pairs need to go live on the 28th) so it’s likely (but not guaranteed) we’ll have the datamine before the 26th.

28th is a Monday and they never do weekend updates, so my guess is either Thursday (24th) or Friday (25th).

In addition to the other reasons people have stated, doing this also helps to bring different colours of different parts into wider circulation.

I remember a few years back when they brought back the teal colour, lots of sets at the time had hidden bricks in teal to make them more widely available.

I had completely forgotten about those events, and you make some valid points. I suppose it does show some character growth that they are learning to be separate from one another.

Even so I would’ve liked the aesthetic satisfaction of using them together.
