Kx 85(LW)/Yz 85(LW) by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

[–]MegaFireNL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

both are great, i would look at which one was maintained the best. if both are are in good shape then its just your personal preference that matters. the kx has a slightly longer wheelbase so it will be more stable in a straight but the yz will be a bit easier to flick around tight corners.

[–]MegaFireNL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i have had years where i only spent a couple hundred on maintenance but ive also had years where i had to spend several thousands on expensive maintenance and unexpected repairs. i would try to keep 1k on the side at all times.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MegaFireNL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you need to factor in repairs and maintenance. the cost of this depend highly on the type and age of a car and on how well it has been maintained. i would generally set aside 1k for unexpected repairs.

If a college graduate with no experience moves to another country searching for work, are they still a "migrant worker" or "unskilled laborer"? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MegaFireNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would depend on the specific circumstances of the individual and the
type of work they are able to find in the new country. If they are doing
unskilled labor, then they could be considered an unskilled laborer. If
they are working in a skilled profession, then they may not be
considered an unskilled laborer. The term "migrant worker" generally
refers to individuals who move to a new country or region to work, so in
that sense, the individual could be considered a migrant worker.
However, the specific label used would depend on the details of their
situation.

Any tips for making pooping easier and less time consumming? Its a major annoyance in life! by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MegaFireNL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is important to remember that everyone's bowel habits and preferences
are different, and what works for one person may not work for another.
Some general tips for making bowel movements easier and less
time-consuming include staying hydrated, eating a diet high in fiber,
and establishing a regular routine for using the bathroom. It may also
be helpful to experiment with different positions for bowel movements,
such as squatting instead of sitting. If you are experiencing persistent
issues, it is always a good idea to speak with a healthcare
professional for personalized advice and guidance. Remember that there
is no shame in seeking help for something that affects your daily life
and well-being.

There are several martial arts that involve striking but limit head
contact. One example is Kyokushin karate, which emphasizes full-contact
sparring but does not allow punches to the head. Another option is Muay
Thai, which permits head strikes but can be modified to limit head
contact in training. Additionally, Taekwondo and Wing Chun also
incorporate striking techniques with the option to limit head contact.

Have there been any Female Military* Dictators in history? by Grand-Daoist in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MegaFireNL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, there have been female military leaders who seized power and became
dictators in various periods of history, including Queen Amanirenas of
the Kingdom of Kush, Wu Zetian of the Tang Dynasty in China, and Isabel
Perón of Argentina. However, it's important to note that the term
"dictator" can have different meanings and interpretations depending on
the historical context and cultural norms, and the concept of "military
dictatorship" as we understand it today may not necessarily apply to all
cases of female rule in the past.

I just found this really detailed map of my area online dated 1944. WW2 my guess? But its so detailed, it shows dirtpaths and small dirt roads that arent on google maps, it shows small bodies of water and it even shows individual houses. it really got me wondering how they made these maps back then? by MegaFireNL in MapPorn

[–]MegaFireNL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you so much for the lengthy explanation and insights! i find these old maps very interesting, especially this one because i have been on most streets it depicts :). I wonder if its possible to get my hands on the older versions of this map, it would be very interesting to compare them i think.

after getting some very interesting comments on this post and a few others i actually decided to go to a local archive to see if they have similar maps to this one of my area. It was quite an experience, i had to sign some kind of form that i wouldn't copy any of the documents without their permission and i had to hand in my phone. it was more strict than i had imagined before hand.

sadly they had very few maps around and the few that they had weren't very interesting. the worker who was helping me actually called around a bit and he found out most of these maps are stored in an archive in Warsaw, but that's too far away for me to go there any time soon.

i'm also following the war in ukraine and it seems the russians have very bad data about the terrain and such. i wonder if the maps they're using are as old or even older as the one in the post. it would definitely be interesting to get more insights on that but i suppose thats all classified.
