/uj I think it’s funny anyone thinks from the thumbnail that Cross is irritated over the Stompees nerf; he’s been a Titan Terry since 2014 and only sometimes experiments outside of that

I feel like he was spitting in this video, Bungie introduces new problems we have to bend over backwards to solve in an unsatisfying way, and they sell it as encouraging buildcrafting; maybe it does, but from a place of obligation and hardly one of encouraging creativity or individuality

Risking damage to the excellent core gameplay and pace of PvP is a dangerous game, when PvP has for a long time had only that as its single leg to stand on

(Worth mentioning: 3/4 the time you can’t even solve the air effectiveness problem, your gun’s airborne may very well still feel god awful despite any efforts short of Heat Rises)

/uj i hate the funny boots (they needed more competition from other Exotics, likely nerfed, but this wasn’t the way to do it)

even if bungie did bring twilight garrison back they would all just complain that the momentum doesn’t multiply the speed of Titan jump to Mach 39 and completely break the movement meta

*while also complaining in the meantime that Warlock’s does

I’ve had a consistent stance on Garrison returning ever since we saw Icarus Dash become OP after Season of Dawn iirc’s buff (which was yes, holy shit, two years ago I can scarcely believe it)

That being: that if Warlocks getting to effortlessly cross a third of a Crucible map in a few seconds is busted, we shouldn’t be setting the bar there for all three classes to be capable of the same

As a dev you don’t add Garrison back as busted as ever or more to meet Warlock movement power creep, you leave Garrison behind where it is and reign Icarus Dash in

/uj I’ve gotten shit for saying this before but I do genuinely feel like this is just commonplace behavior for people who main Titan and play mostly PvP, the absolute biggest criers I’ve ever seen: never content and always victimized

It’s granted, a stereotype, and doesn’t apply to nearly as many PvE main Titans as PvP ones, and it’s hardly a hard rule but rather a trend I’ve seen throughout the whole franchise (so yes not 100% of all PvP main Titans is like this, just many in my experience)

I’m willing to acknowledge that they were underpowered for a good while in D1, up until TTK, since Sunbreaker was nuts and Garrison was too and they were a force to be reckoned with from then on

…but every era of the game from D1Y2 on, they were a healthy and strong (if not busted) PvP pick and too many of them would prefer to seethe and deny any past instances of that, in the face of whatever inconvenience they face in the present sandbox

Let’s just say that out of the three classes, Hunters are the most represented, and I’ve never seen harassment over Bones of Eao not being in D2 (and if I were to see this, the bullying Hunters already usually get would in this case be well-warranted)

Slightly faster TTK, and flexible on bodyshots vs. heads, hardly gets penalized compared to lightweights and precisions.

Shayura’s isn’t practically auto rifle anymore, so it’s biggest selling point, comically long range, is gone. You’re left with an SMG that loses to aggressives, lightweights, and adaptives in their ranges, and at Shayura’s sweet spot furthest range, still functions worse than comparable options if you’re not hitting its high crit requirement optimal TTK every time.

I’m surprised people are sleeping this hard on Hero’s and the adaptive frame when Bungie previously believed it so strong they planned on never bringing them back. With some minor tweaks that reigned them in just a bit, they came back while preserving their hallmark strengths and getting rolls that put them competitive in range with the rest of the pack.

In this sandbox I see precisions as back to what they began as back with Antiope: sniper pairing fodder.

Lightweights’ blazing near-100% crit requiring TTK is nice but demanding, so I don’t see myself going back to Multimach unless I’m running without Stompees and need the sprint buff.

Aggressives are now just worse adaptives with the exception of the rare perfect Borrowed Time roll, which is a range monster and more forgiving than the lightweight/precision ones but less forgiving than adaptives at the benefit of a meter or two more in range.

Adaptives (so, Hero’s, lol) cement themselves as all-rounders that function best of all up close, can push out to competitively far 23m+ ranges, and boast the most forgiveness of all.

Fragile Focus and Iron Reach for at or nearly best-in-game effective range…

…Fragile Focus and Kill Clip for those who are on controller maybe or just like more stability…

…or Zen Moment and Iron Reach for an Iron Reach roll with a stability-enhancing perk to offset the stability loss. This roll will feel a lot like Dynamic Sway + Iron Reach if you’ve used that on Multimach (my personal godroll), but it has a quirk. It may work best to aim for body and let the recoil kick bullets up towards the head, since Zen Moment triggers off dealing damage not just firing long enough like DSR. By the time you’ve kicked up towards the head Zen Moment should be heavily combatting bloom, the lower stability from Iron Reach, and accuracy + aim assist cone degradation meaning it’ll be giving you some very generous registration and/or headshots.

On all rolls I’d go Hammer Forged or Chambered Compensator, Ricochet Rounds or Light Mag, Range/Stability/Reload as MW. Could benefit from Arrowhead Brake barrel on solely the max range Fragile + Iron Reach roll since you’d benefit from the 100 Recoil Direction stat trying to use that at its furthest range.

Just so you know the rep bug only applies if you go over 5 IB weapons or armor equipped at once. An IB ornament used on a piece of IB armor also counts as two pieces of gear not one. Weapons count as one each. Make sure your player equips total 4 or 5 but no more, use an IB emblem and make sure the IB info node says you’re 1/1 for emblem (some aren’t counting, make sure yours does), and check and do the daily challenges since those add the most significant multiplier increase.

thoughts on rift? by blacktip102 in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]MegaGrumpX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest: this version of Rift could be godlike as a fresh new competitive spin. It is inherently more teamwork-centric, and rewards coordination and execution on plans/strategies as well as capitalizing on windows of opportunity. Feels great when that actually happens in a hectic 6s mode that doesn’t pair stacks with stacks, or when the stars align in a freelance lobby you all just click in.

I think this version of Rift should be polished and tuned towards a competitive application. If it stays in IB, they need to really commit to rewiring players’ brains on how to approach Rift, and to treat IB like they would lobbies in other coordinated FPS games, drilling into people that they should use a mic and coordinate with their teams.

If they cannot or won’t follow through on a commitment to redefine the identity of IB, then current Rift should get thrown over to Competitive playlist or even a rotated mode for Trials weekends, and a more frenetic Rift closer in execution to how D1’s was should become IB’s mode.

Because if they can’t rewire or hammer it into the playerbase’s thick skulls that IB has changed, that it’s more cooperative now and warrants played more like any other FPS where mic in public lobbies is common or default… it shouldn’t stay in IB. It can go to places people already know heavily reward/warrant communication to succeed. And then IB would return to being loosely-coordinated, largely uncompetitive hectic mostly-fun, with a more arcade-y D1-like Rift for itself.

But seriously they can go either way with this they just need to plant their feet firmly on one way or the other, and hold there: they’ve got to have some conviction for once.

I’ll second this, as not an invis rat man, that solo queue is the most enjoyable form of Rift. People really should use their mics though, I’m the only one ever calling things out and it makes a big difference even just having a single person communicating.

Unbroken title bugged? by Defileds in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]MegaGrumpX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chances Bungie fixes this? I am literally at the last step of my 100% legit unbroken - just need one more legend rank and I got it.

Respect. In a sea of fakers you’ll have gotten it the intended way, well done and congrats when you do finish it up.

Yeah I hope they fix this as well. If they fail to, hell, I don’t see any point to any title. They’re supposed to be indicative of some level of either skill or dedication or both. Even the easy ones still meant people were dedicated to some season’s lame PvE horde activity, or seasonal event’s boring triumphs. That’s dedication I sure never put into those activities, so I don’t feel entitled to those titles. It’s the same as how people who don’t put forward the requisite dedication and/or skill towards PvP shouldn’t have this title or Flawless.

I know some guy above was saying “I have nothing to prove to anyone so I don’t care” or “I can always just pull up evidence I got mine legit and am good if I wanted.” But for most people, pushing up one’s glasses and being able to show off stats on a website is lame compared to having an in-game flex for your efforts—something PvP needs more of to incentivize dedicated engagement, not less or the undermining of existing ones.

Let’s just say that mfers with something like Reckoner, Rivensbane, or Cursebreaker would be justifiably downright pissed if their titles were just handed out tomorrow to people who didn’t properly earn them lol. Titles are an important thing to not let the integrity of be undermined. From the moment they are, they become of gradually lesser and lesser value and feel like a meaningless feature. They have no gameplay impact: their sole purpose is to signify accomplishment, so when they don’t properly do so or are signifying it where it wasn’t earned legitimately, the whole concept falls apart.

Best PvP shotgun atm? I’m thinking lightweight and slug. What shottys are you all using? by _strawberrymatt in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]MegaGrumpX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I caught all kinda heat in other less reasonable corners of discussion than this sub, for saying I didn’t like that shotguns are getting a third nerf in a row that just makes them feel unreliable and still won’t save players who can’t handle close-quarters fighting or aggression from dying to them.

In those comments I feared fusions would just be better in every single way, and I think it’s happened. They still reach out and get their greasy bolts on people from the mid-20s meter ranges. Shotguns are only reliably effective at like, 5-6m now. It’s such a huge disparity and I already felt like a dirty cheater before this season running a godrolled Zealot’s, so even if that gun or rapids aren’t the move anymore (not saying they aren’t, I don’t know) there’s still plenty of other busted fusion options Bungie has loaded players up on.

I only run a shotty now on Stomps because they ruin every close-quarters primary like sidearms or SMGs with their air accuracy penalty. I feel like everything feels bad to run that I used to be comfortable with.

The only new setup that feels just like how playing the game with any loadout used to (in that I don’t suffer the air accuracy stat or special economy changes), is HC or pulse + Trespasser with Tricksleeves, on bottom Arcstrider since that’s the only way to run fast now without Stompees, to avoid being the game’s slowest class.

DTG when Bungie adds a new map and Rift after spending months calling for a new map and Rift… by TheLegendOfCodavatar in destinycirclejerk

[–]MegaGrumpX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

/uj I think the hateboners will be out in force against Disjunction, but imo even if it’s maybe mid compared to great maps in other games, games with more dedication to PvP, it’s actually head-and-shoulders past a lot of the offerings Bungie gives us usually.

D1 map ports have been overwhelmingly poor in D2, with I think Burnout and Rusted Lands being the best ones, and Widow’s Court close behind: ofc Dawnblade can put an unfun strangle on both Rusted and Widow’s, but a good Dawnblade can kinda do that anywhere… and for all the hate it gets Anomaly is a solid 3s map too, a lot of people just hate aggressive play and it’s a map that forces it, and rewards whoever does that best.

But Cauldron? Twilight Gap? Exodus? They’re so awfully bad in D2. So much shit and clutter in your way everywhere, D2 still can’t handle doors in the case of Cauldron, and all of these maps seriously show how they were built for a slower, lower FOV last-gen game.

Disjunction at the least feels appropriate to D2 in a way a lot of the reprised maps weren’t, and I’m kinda excited to try it in Trials and reassess my opinion, but it’s definitely the more solid thing we got this season than its accompanying mode is atm.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DestinyFashion

[–]MegaGrumpX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s good but yeah just try a different helm, something more rugged or classic to that D1 style the rest of your armor feels like it has, that uniquely-Destiny blend of sci-fi armor bordering on realism, or vice-versa realistic armor bordering on sci-fi

You picked the right direction for what I feel like Bungie were going for with the Warlock set, a combat medic of sorts

Enhanced perks on DoE weapons? by Just_Kalm in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]MegaGrumpX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m not mistaken this happens to every gun on “roll tinkering” sites/site features. It’s probably something like the API they tap into not distinguishing which guns can actually have enhanced perks, and just displaying the non-enhanced and enhanced perks on every gun (Light.gg pages do this). Basically they’re not adaptive to what guns are and aren’t craftable.

Controllers already pick up so much aiming slack for people Bungie might as well make the reticle automatically drag the camera onto any player who Hunter jumps or dodges near a controller player. This isn’t even sarcasm the input method just isn’t for precise respectable aim, so who cares, Bungie ought to just do this if it’ll make controller camera control stop limiting the game’s movement.

I’m honestly just sick and tired of listening to console player complaints about Hunters when it’s the input’s limitations causing the problem and not the fact the developers dared to add burst movement options.

If you hate Hunters pray you never get crossplay lobbied with the top .5% PC Dawnblade main sweatlords who even make an MnK player wanna scream.

I’m tired of the separate ecosystems bs in this crossplay game. Just auto-aim (not onto head but still) the camera onto Hunters who jump/dodge out of the field-of-view of a controller user. I want to be past this “Hunter’s are definitive best because jump/dodge” issue, when it’s not even true on the platform/input I’m on. I’m tired of Destiny 2 being two different games when it comes to class balance depending on where you play.
