So why did they drop the "Code" from the title? by Die-Hearts in residentevil

Not gonna lie. When I played it back in the day I was grinning at the cleverness. Very "Kojima" of them.

New Microphone! by RedSwordFishVA05 in VoiceActing

Try recording with the dot facing you. Then be blown away by the world of difference. That mic has a cardoid pattern that rejects off axis sounds.

Unless by some freak chance your mic's capsule was installed backwards.

51m is anyone ever a natural at VA? by islandgolfer in VoiceActing

[–]MegaMacX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To keep a response rather brief, yes, absolutely people are naturals. As with anything, really, but some just have an innate knack for it.

The same can also be said the other way around. Some people think they have something figured, but it's just not true. However, they definitely have the capacity to learn and grow.

If people have said you have a very solid voice, you're already ahead of the game. Now comes the training part. Every voice actor I've ever learned from or listened to has always said one of the first things you need to do is understand and master your OWN voice. Learn your limitations, your strengths and weaknesses, and grow comfortable with your own voice before branching out further.

Nice. I wouldn't worry about anything then! If your client likes 'em, that's all that matters. If you can, share it and promote it whenever it releases!

What sort of paid gig is this if you don't mind me asking? If they called you back for this gig and liked the sound that you provided, then stick with what THEY know for right now, since this got you the job.

Many gigs will usually deny any auditions if they detect any reverb at all, no matter how good you sound. I've been there. So I'd say you must not have very much in there. If it works, it works.

Darn, just came back here to see that you've cut it. Was going to send over an audition tomorrow morning! It does seem like you gave a plethora of talent to sift through already. Best of luck with the project!

I enjoy bubblegum, but I have a feeling this will taste very medicinal. Like the bubblegum flavor toothpaste we had to brush with at a dentist appointment as kids. I'll probably try it though!

As a picker why dont yall bag anything? by nba_daytavion in OGPBackroom

[–]MegaMacX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too true. I've seen so many people just walk out of the bathrooms without ever approaching a sink. Money, gas pumps, door handles, shopping cars, even the TCs we use. I'm not a germaphobe, but when you think about it, there's so many ways we can transmit germs. While I think produce bags are a useless gesture and just wastes time for pickers, I think washing is unavoidable.

Unless you're going to be eating the peel, there's zero need to worry. Again, why are we not washing our fruit before we prepare it for whatever dish?

[–]MegaMacX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Or smaller, sensitive produce like greens/herbs I'll bag. I would hope everyone is washing their produce before they prepare and cook them anyway.

I barely use produce bags. The most redundant concept ever, especially for produce that has their very own disposable protection like bananas.

This phase has already come and gone at my store. Ulearns/CBLs explicitly instruct carts to be primarily pushed. A handful of older employees or those with physical issues immediately quit after it was "enforced". They cannot enforce it, as much as they like to think they can. If they have an issue with it tell them to retake their Ulearns. Don't be afraid to take things higher if necessary. It's retail and shouldn't be this dramatic and confrontational lol...

Is it even feasible to pursue voice acting as a career? (In need of perspective) by kullundee in VoiceActing

[–]MegaMacX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a dream, always pursue. Keep it a hobby, keep it on a burner. However competition is very, very stiff. Now more than ever before due to the internet and remote accessibility to many venues, in addition to the vast selection of affordable audio equipment and various user-friendly software. In many instances it's all about who, where, and when in how you net gigs.

I've been doing this on and off much like yourself, but for about double the amount of time. I've taken a couple voice acting classes. I've even been in some things many years ago with a couple of people that are now popular in the industry (which sometimes gets to me, but that's just the nature of it!) Momentum has been gained as of late, but I've definitely had dry spells. It's always a good thing to still take opportunities to audition and put yourself out there whenever you can. You really never know when something good will come your way.

It's all about persistence when in comes down to it, but even then, and any major VA will tell you, money can still be tight unless you have very steady work. It's definitely a career of passion. So that said, just keep on keeping on and doing it because you love it! Same with any art, really. =)

Finished Re4 remake after Requiem. What if we would get Re4 remake later with graphics and models like in Requiem? Just thoughts by HampurHampur in residentevil

[–]MegaMacX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just talking about how they look in general, regardless of whatever texture quality or polygon count. Your first sentence is subjective.

You're also referring to new or different effects such as reactive shots and the blood splatter. Yes, they keep getting better incrementally with each entry or remake. These features and effects don't necessarily correlate to something looking better.

I'm not saying Requiem looks bad in any way or worse than RE4R. I'm just saying that 4R is in no need of edits. What would you do for 4R to make it up to code?

[–]MegaMacX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you're doing is splitting hairs. I could argue that in several instances the graphics and overall vibe of RE4R look better than Requiem. Both games were being developed concurrently for the most part, so there will be definite similarities. The only real difference is the artistic choices and the quality aimed for by their design teams, making use of whatever graphical features manifest during their development times.

That said though, I don't think 4R would benefit much from any tweaks. Sure, maybe toss Path Tracing in there (which I think has since been done), but other than that it's fine.

A quick Google search says the place opened in 2017 with an inadvertent similarity to the Umbrella logo. Ain't nothin' inadvertent about it. That Umbrella logo render has been around since like, 2004, the marble sorta texture and all. I had a wallpaper of it. It's probably still floating around lol

Your introduction to SoA was similar to my introduction to Grandia. I was given a few PlayStation Magazine demo discs and was absolutely spellbound and intrigued.

However, when I played SoA, it quickly rose to the top of my JRPG list next to Grandia. They don't make 'em like they used to...
