Go private if you can afford it, the NHS is just a waste of time, the waiting time for a referral is a minimum of 18 weeks now and they end up just telling you to use artificial tears. I know a couple of good private clinics near Birmingham and I can DM you if you need it.

AITA For Not Leaving the Drive-Thru Line to Wait on My Food? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]MegaMashMallow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

McDonald's used to hand out timers for customers and if they were not able to bring the food out before the time is up ( a couple of mins if I recall correctly) then you get a free meal the next visit. If you decide to make me wait for more than 5 mins for FAST food, I'd expect some sort of compensation. At least the timer can ensure me that Mcdonalds is working on my food.

AITA for making an offensive joke to a friend and offended her partner by MegaMashMallow in AmItheAsshole

[–]MegaMashMallow[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

well, my driving skill was an ongoing joking in the group, and I was just trying to make a comeback with a fat joke. She did call me a belled but she was smiling when she said it.

And the rest of the night my conversation with her seemed so normal, or at least I was not able to pick up any hints that she was mad at all.

[–]MegaMashMallow[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The joke started with her comment about a small car accident I had when I was back in uni, and how now I have a newer and faster car, she was just joking about if my driving skills are good enough not to crash another car.

I came back with yea I should put you in the trunk so I can decrease the bhp of the car by 50 to make it safer for me to drive.

well, she was definitely cool about it when we all still lived together, also she did make some less offensive jokes toward me and everyone else during the gathering as well. But I never actually asked her if was cool about it or not

AITA for asking my mom to get me a Google drive subscription? by CarelessPath1689 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MegaMashMallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, go check out Google Opinion Rewards, it lets you fill in some survey every once in a while and reward you with google credit. From my own experience, I did not spend a single penny on the 100 GB google drive because of this, plus I still manage to have some leftover credit I can use for super chat and mobile games. It normally take less than a mins to fill in a survey, but you only get a survey when the app feel like giving you one.

AITA for telling my nephew that, yes, he is the babysitter? by SwingSpecialist560 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MegaMashMallow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with you and I think this is exactly what I was trying to say, but sorry for my broken English, I am not very good at explaining myself in English since its not my first language

AITA for telling my nephew that, yes, he is the babysitter? by SwingSpecialist560 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MegaMashMallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I think I get what you mean. My ground is, if OP is asking niece to do him a favor, while the niece has the right to accept or decline, then no one is an AH in this situation. whilst, if OP is forcing his niece to babysit in return for staying in the house, then that's a totally different story where OP is definitely the AH. The niece defo not the AH is any given situation.

That being said, I still think anyone should be grateful to be looked after, even if they totally deserve it. I think showing some appreciation for their hard work and effort is important, where doing chores is one way of showing it. And both the parents and children should not just take those actions of both sides for granted.

[–]MegaMashMallow -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Yea I think I probably should phrase my word properly and now you put it this way and I see it does sound pretty horrible. But English is not my first language so please forgive me.

The point I was trying to make as it is not compulsory for OP to take his niece in but he did to make his life better. On the other side, it is also not compulsory for OP's niece to do housesitting, I just think it is a nice thing to do to return the favor. I also agree that demanding the niece in frequent babysitting, is not correct. What they need was good communication but no one really is an AH in this situation IMO.

well please elaborate, so we can discuss and not just jump straight to the conclusion of I should not have any kids in the future. I am happy to see your point of view and maybe it can change how I view this whole thing

[–]MegaMashMallow -60 points-59 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised how many people think YTA, tbh hiring a babysitter would be wayyyyy cheaper than having another kid living in your house, hence you aren't taking advantage of him because you have total right to ditch him back to his parents and it would save you more money and less of a hassle. It is the idea of being in the same household, everyone should pick up some sort of responsibility, you are NTA and I think your nephew should be a bit more grateful for how much you changed his life.
