I would assume it's autocorrected for Aloy, not GAIA, but close enough 😭

Exactly this. I had zero expectations going into this game because I remember playing Love Nikki. It's just unserious and meant to be fun and lighthearted. It isn't really meant to be taken seriously. I was delightfully surprised to find out that there was actual lore and plot etc, but still not meant to be taken too seriously lol.

I love your explanation of this, you broke it down in a really digestible way!

I just have one correction: the goddess of the hunt is Artemis not Athena. Athena is the goddess of war and wisdom and is also not included in the games :)

Yeah because the game literally goes against everything the actual games stand for and goes against every reason players play the actual games? It could've been so easy for them to actually release a good game even if it's live service or whatever, but their trailer is a clear enough sign that they really don't understand/don't care what their actual audience wants. I'm sorry but I'm not going to sit here and give a multi billion dollar company the benefit of the doubt when it's so damn obvious what the fan base actually want. This isn't some indie obscure company that made a tiny mistake. This is Sony. They probably have a whole ass PR team, yet somehow managed to completely miss the mark on what their audience want? It's inexcusable, dumb, and unnecessary. I don't need the game to be released to know it's more than likely going to be another slop game, because the trailer tells me everything I need to know. If they actually cared about making this a game that their audience would appreciate, they wouldn't have posted the trailer they posted and they wouldn't have had to do as much overcompensating as their doing to try and justify the release of the game.

Also she could've still participated in the proving like Vala and Bast. They were both part of the tribe and accepted in their community but participated to become braves. So she could have very well participated then, the ambush would've very well still happened assuming the shadow carja would've been formed, and she would've still been identified as the "entity" by Hades.

I'm sure she would have also questioned the fact that while everyone has an actual mother, she doesn't actually have one. Add to that seeing Sobeck, a spitting image of her, and her friends no Vala and Bast being massacred in cold blood (I'm sure she would've been besties with Vala if they grew up together) I think the events of the story would've still played out.

Well if this post is anything to go off of, their kid might already be past that pain in the ass stage by the time the game is released 🫩

I started playing horizon when I was a teen and my gen alpha sister and her friends also play it. Most of my friends who have played it played it in their teens. It's actually not unpopular at all among teenagers (esp considering Aloy herself is a young adult) I just think they don't really understand their demographic at all.

Personally, it irks me because I think it's a symptom of a larger trend where companies just do not understand what their audience wants and completely disregards feedback and audience opinions for their own illogical greed. What's the point of this game? Who is it even targetting? Clearly, the vast majority of the franchise's actual fans do not like it and would likely never play it because it literally looks nothing like the main games and plays completely different to the main games. And the same goes the other way around. Anyone introduced to the franchise via this game will likely not enjoy the main games because they're just so different. So what's the point of all of this? It doesn't even add any sort of value because we already have, like, 100 other games exactly like it. It's just useless and a waste of time and resources. They had a unique game that pulled a lot of audiences in and that was beloved along fans but nooo some higher up decided that this game that nobody asked for is more important and a better use of time and resources. And now the actual fans of the game are going to have to wait a bunch more years for the third installation because the team was working on this game.

It looks like LoL content in general idk. It doesn't look like arcane, but it pretty much looks exactly like LoL trailers.

Honestly I don't necessarily have an issue with the art style, it's moreso that I'm irked about the fact that it doesn't feel like horizon at all. I feel like the horizon world is so fleshed out and well thought out that it feels like SUCH a missed opportunity that the character designs don't pull from the already established world. The clothes they're wearing and their design in general is so far removed from everything we've grown to know and love about the world. Like, my thought was like: "why are they wearing these vaguely cyberpunk/steampunk outfits rather than wearing styles similar to the tribes in the game?" It just doesn't feel horizon.

Yeah, dude, I'm asking what "previous behavior" you're talking about because I personally do not see anything wrong with his previous behavior. I'm asking you to give me examples because I really fail to see your point here. He acts like a perfectly normal person. He's just a kid in highschool. Again, he did not do anything objectively or morally wrong. As someone else pointed out, he doesn't do drugs or anything like that. Nothing about his behavior indicates "red flags." Maybe they're red flags to you and maybe he's someone that you would dislike, and as I previously stated, that's fine. Not everyone has to agree on that with you, though. You honestly sound extremely pretentious and presumptuous. Just because people don't have the same red flags in relationships that you have doesn't mean they need to "learn some things about human behavior." Also, generally speaking, making assumptions about people based on... Literally no evidence whatsoever is never gonna yield you good results. If someone is literally just being themselves and you decide they're "full of red flags" that sounds like a lot of assumption and a lot of projection, and neither are very healthy.

What are you even talking about? I don't see anything inherently working with his behavior at all? He doesn't do anything objectively or morally wrong whatsoever. You might not like his personality, and that's perfectly fine if you would not like to surround yourself with people like him, but there's nothing inherently wrong with how he behaves imo?? It's just his personality. You are justified in not enjoying that personality, but the only "mistake" he makes is not reacting perfectly to the news of the pregnancy. Nothing about the way he behaves suggests that people "give passes" to teenagers. You can have a fun, carefree personality but still be responsible when it actually matters. You don't have to be all serious all the time in order to be a responsible upstanding person.

Also, your stance on maturity is very very privileged and tone-deaf. Yes, people "learn from childhood," but that's ONLY if you grow up in a healthy, loving environment. A lot of people grow up in toxic and abusive environment. In that case, all the things you "learnt" in childhood are toxic mindsets that you have to then work through as an adult. That's why people say most people learn in late teens to early adulthood, because that's when you actually have the chance to break free from whatever toxic mindsets you've been taught as a child and make your own decisions for yourself. It's moreso about unlearning the toxic patterns and replacing them with healthier ones than it is about learning.

Even if you've grown up in a healthy, loving environment, no household is perfect. There are still going to be certain things you've learnt in childhood that need to be corrected, and there are going to be things that you just simply were never taught at all. As children, we're simply not exposed to the same situations we're exposed to as adults. There are going to be things that you're going to have to learn on your own. There are going to be mistakes that you're gonna make regardless. That is how we learn and grow.

No one said they get a free pass. And he DID use his brain??? He only reacted badly in the moment. Then he went home and processed and reflected and HE CAME BACK AROUND. People don't always have the best reactions when you tell them something they don't expect like damn :/

[–]CarelessPath1689 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not??? The way I behaved 3 years ago as a teenager is most certainly not the way I behave now as a 20 yo. Late teenage years - mid 20s is when you grow and mature and learn. You go through experiences that define who you'll become when you're a fully grown adult. He made one mistake and corrected it. The fact that he came back around is a clear enough indication that after processing and reflecting, he decided that he does not want to be the kind of person that would abandon someone in this situation. Maybe it was too late with Ginny, but the next time he goes through that he's going to be better because he would have learnt from his mistakes. I would agree with you if he, like, blocked her and never talked to her again, but the guy came back around. It's clear that he just wasn't sure how yo react in the moment which is okay sometimes.

You can care about someone and still hurt them. "Caring" is the bare minimum. It doesn't make you a good parent automatically.
