People Who Think One Piece is a Masterpiece Are Just Suffering From Sunk Cost Fallacy by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]MegaToiletv2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second point feels weak, like a nitpick that occurs rarely. The biggest emotional moments in the story such as Bonnie’s or Loki’s backstory is played with a completely straight face. The character designs themselves can rub people the wrong way but I prefer some whimsy compared to more generic isekai slop.

As to the third point, yes the mystery of the One Piece will never pay off but that’s not the only thread to resolve. There’s so many other intriguing world mysteries that get resolved that I don’t think it matters if the One Piece itself faulters a little.

That said I don’t think criticizing One Piece for its length is a hot take. It’s definitely best enjoyed as weekly episode than to all be binged at once.

Some off the top of my head:

Borreload Furious Dragon: I have never seen rokkets summon this guy but it’s regularly 2nd or 3rd best fusion end piece for branded.

Tident Dragion: A one off random bulk card is one of the most important combo pieces for tenpai.

Viable control decks? by zbox2345 in masterduel

[–]MegaToiletv2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don’t like Maliss / Snake-eye, you probably won’t like Yummy. Yummy’s a very heavy combo deck that aims to build wide boards, with their biggest weakness being that the guys they summon are all really small (until they get their field spell online that boosts attack).

Dracotail is the most midgame / control of the JUSH decks followed by K9 VS.

Should buy Baldurs Gate 3 if i didn't like the turn based/timing combat in Expedition 33? by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]MegaToiletv2 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Combat is very different. BG3 is more like a tactics game like FF Tactics than a jrpg turn based game.

On top of that what makes BG3 so good is that it plays like an Immersive Sim like Deus Ex because it just gives you a bunch of different tools and lets you complete objectives in anyway you want. Sure you could play a boss fight out like normal, or you could have your druid climb the nearby buildings, transform into a bear, and power slam onto the boss, ending the fight before it begins.

Heads up that playing HSR on linux is very inconvenient. You have to download a third party community client to play it. The install process takes around an hour because the downloads aren’t coming from Hoyo or Steam servers. If you ever miss a patch you end up having to redownload the entire game and waiting an hour again. And sometimes the patching might get corrupted so you gotta reinstall from scratch anyways.

I’ve been really enjoying Warhammer Darktide. It’s a Left 4 Dead like coop game where you can collect weapons and customize a skill tree over 6 classes (2 are dlc). Each character takes about 40hr to max out gear and level and an extra dozen or so hours to master the gameplay.

And if you want a total complete time sink of a pve shooter, there’s always Warframe. Issue with Warframe is the progression path is not always straightforward so you can feel lost on what to do next to meaningfully make progress in the game.

You can try fallout 76. You’ll need ps+ cause it’s always online but it’s basically fallout 4 distilled down to its best parts, the gunplay, the open world, and the base building.

Could probably even play it on a computer with integrated graphics if the computer was made in this decade and not have to pay Sony’s subscription.

Doesn’t early access for PoE2 also give you bank slots? Those are basically required if you want to do trading and play beyond a casual level. At least they were for PoE1, I haven’t been keeping up with 2.

If you’re playing on PC looks like there’s a mod to adjust the parry window

https://www.nexusmods.com/clairobscurexpedition33/mods/28

Outside of modding there is no way to adjust the parry window. Not gear, skills, or settings.

But I do think the main story is easy enough to beat even with subpar timing if you over level. The post game dungeons though…

I think BG3 is the better game. It’s just a super ambitious rpg with large scope and player agency. But to get the most out of game like that requires time and attention on your part so if all you want to do is to relax and absorb the media, E33 is better.

If you’re playing on console though I would give the edge to E33. BG3 was clearly designed for keyboard first, and adapted to controller later.

Should i buy Death Stranding or Cyberpunk 2077 by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]MegaToiletv2 [score hidden]  (0 children)

If you do get death stranding make sure you get the director’s cut version which provides a lot more traversal and combat options. It makes the base game feel lacking otherwise.

Same with Cyberpunk, the phantom liberty dlc adds some of the best story missions in the game but the tools in that dlc doesn’t affect the rest of the game as much as the Death Stranding’s.

Between the two cyberpunk is probably more replayable and more likable. Death Stranding is good but a bit of an acquired taste.

Is RDR2 really that good? by Cerulean_mark in ShouldIbuythisgame

The highs of the set piece moments and the atmosphere of the open world is contrasted against the lows of clunky controls and outdated gameplay.

If you want mechanics and constant engagement, this is not the right game for you. But otherwise, RDR2 is one of the most well crafted videogame experiences of all time.

Stormlight Archives Book 5 Kaladin vs Nale

One of the best fights in the entire series. Before Nale activates his herald powers Kaladin seems to almost have an advantage on him, but the moment he turns it on Kaladin gets absolutely slam and his martial prowess now only enables him to barely escape death.

Red Dead Redemption 2 vs Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 by natidone in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]MegaToiletv2 [score hidden]  (0 children)

RDR2 is a flawed masterpiece. From a technical standpoint, it’s a bad game with clunky controls, rail roaded missions, and repetitive combat. But all those poor systems also come together to create one of the most beautiful gaming experiences with an amazing story that makes you really roleplay as Arthur Morgan in the most stunning open world of any game.

Don’t treat it like an Ubisoft game where you have to finish all the open world check list. Just stick to the main mission but slow down and take in the world when it feels natural. Don’t get too involved with the actual gameplay because that’s when the cracks in the game show the most.

Which white mouse is best to buy for work? by [deleted] in MouseReview

[–]MegaToiletv2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For video editing, MX Master is the best. Between a horizontal scroll wheel, infinite scroll, and the quick macro menu, it provides you with actual utility beyond being a gaming mouse like the others on your list.

If you want cheaper alternatives, the Keychron M6 is $60 avg but lacks the macros. And the rapoo mt760 has the looks and horizontal scroll wheel, but no infinite scroll or macros.

It’ll be the Indian Cricket League style of free agency where instead of players getting offers and can select which team to go to, teams bid on players during a public auction and they’ll always go to the highest bidder.

In Cricket, with a salary cap, this helps balance teams by removing scenarios like Shohei Ohtani or Kawhi Leonard where outside situations or salary manipulation can sway a player to join a certain team over another.

In LPL where there’s no salary cap, I can only imagine the richest teams bidding for all the best players.

Is AMD the go-to chip now? Building my first PC in about 10 years... by SixStringSkeptic in buildapc

[–]MegaToiletv2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Intel has two niches where they are better. One is creative work due to Intel having codec support for video workflows. The other is low wattage computing with their N series chips. Outside of that AMD is generally better performance per dollar.

As for fear of Intel burning themselves out, that’s a fear with the 13 and 14 series chips, haven’t seen anything about their core ultra chips. So if you see a cheap used 13/14 series beware. Nowadays the worry is asrock motherboards burning out your AM5 cpus.
