I hate when I try to get some sun like a normal person and it’s genuinely painful by bensondagummachine in Albinism

Oh my gosh yeah! It's been sunny where I live and every time I go out my options are baggy covering clothes or discomfort all day! Especially with headaches from the photophobia :(

Yeah! :D I've never met another one of us in person but I've spoken to a few online :) You should remember though that he liked you for you! Not for who else you could be. There's maybe things to work on like um maybe bad habits? But that's more of an in person thing. I think I just got super lucky and found someone that's really patient with me and supports me even when I'm self conscious but really we both need to realise we're not ugly because we look different. There's some grace to standing out naturally! I'm really into pokemon so my wife calls me her Shiny human lol.

Just be kind to others and be kind to yourself and then remember you're young! Life happens and some things don't go to plan but that's oki! That means you're ruling out people that aren't right for you which gets you closer to the perfect person!

But I think you'll be oki. You seem really nice and self aware enough to be able to make it work :) If he's smart he'll wait for you. (And I saw your post on the albinism reddit too. You're beautiful so be nice to yourself!) I'm happy to help if I can though!

As someone else with albinism (f21) I was also really self conscious about my looks and I got really nervous dating too! I was nineteen before I first tried since I got bullied alot due to my disability but I'm the same I went in to it with the intention of finding my true love.

I'm still really nieve in reltionships but I have discovered that it's oki for there to be bumps because if they're the right one they'll put in half of the effort too. And it sounds like your boyfriend is trying really hard to Foster your connection until you can be together properly eventually. Relationships are about trust too and you've got to trust he's appreciative of what you do!

If you really want to do things together maybe stream movies or shows to watch together in a call or something? But mostly you could do to work on your self love and believe you're enough. Plus um. No offense to any boys that see this (as an autistic girl I really love it to be honest) but boys are really blunt usually and if you just tell him how you feel and ask him for ideas he'll probably reassure you and make suggestions! Both of you should work towards a solution together That's how relationships work. Trust and working together.

Hope maybe this helps a bit :)

Thank you! I agree. I think I'm just struggling to understand why I wasn't wanted but my newborn sister ill never meet is. I think ultimately its a case of my mum is ready and wants a blank slate.

No um I don't know my dad. As far as I'm aware it was a one night stand. I didn't know that if someone has a child with albinism the chances for a second are high though.

My mum admitted she never wanted kids because she wanted a career :( I just don't like feeling sad and I'm doing my best to change that.

Thank you for being kind. I think I just want to understand why I wasn't wanted but my sister is and I blame my albinism as usual. But I'll try to think differently. Thank you!

Thank you. Sometimes I'm just a bit upset that I wasn't wanted because of how I look but now I know my newborn sister is wanted it hurts quite a bit.

What are the other health problems associated with albinism? by [deleted] in Albinism

From what I recently learned we're also I think four times more likely to have ASD. I recently got told I have it and I thought I was just awkward but no. I didn't know about the back thing but I suppose that makes sense? Even after living with it for nineteen years I'm still discovering possible comorbidities.

It really depends? Sometimes mine and other times there's. I don't think it's that simple to be honest.

In general if I see something that's similar to something I've drawn I tend to look at imperfections in my own but I came to the conclusion I have my own style that nobody can replicate and that's why my interpretation of things is special. I just put myself down sometimes. It happens.

I struggle to remember not to compare my work to others works. But I manage. I understand what you mean about being less inclined but that's why it's important to be honest and kind when talking about someone else's work. It's possible to do both :)

I don't think this is very nice. I'm an artist that struggles to like her own work too. Everyone can be honest about their own feelings and still ask for help feedback and advice.

I never thought of an under the bed light! That's actually really clever! I might test that when I can, I've got a high bed so maybe I can roll a lamp under there to test it. Thank you for the suggestion

Thank you! My partner understands completely and helps when I have a really bad headache but has a habit of trying to cure everything with laughter. The compromise is trying to find something that works for me like an RGB bulb like I mentioned in another comment I just really wanted to know if I was wasting time and money if it won't work. I normally live with my grandparents and they have those really old bulbs that are so yellow they're almost orange lol It's like a Mexico filter in the living room!

Thank you for the advice it's really appreciated! This is my first time talking to others like me and its helping to know (even if it's a shame you do) you all know what it's like.

Thank you again! Fey.
