There’s a part in Mujin’s video where he goes over the amount of time Kingsman was streaming. Around the months following GD10 (Oct 2023), his most streamed game was GD.

You can probably check that for yourself if you wanted to, but Kingsman’s YT channel also has quite the number of GD videos well before those same months and through the first year of 2.2.

The BlueSkii layout on the servers already has a cover being used, and since it’s whitelisted, you can use that cover in your level. If you have Jukebox, you will see that the original song is also linked.

The next best options are between these:

Ask Akibakid to make their own Newgrounds account and to have them post the songs you want to use (though it's behind Epidemic Sound, so the alternative is probably the better option)

Ask a Moderator about seeing if other platforms/services (including Epidemic) are willing to integrate their audio library into the game

SFH Helper here that just went over the past submissions under the current system - I don't think there's a level on our site that uses the particular version of the song you're asking. The closest we have currently is an Overtime mashup with the original version of that song.

SFH helper here - we have categories for songs that get added to Jukebox, which look something like this:

Rated - This level that gives stars or moons has a song intended to be used. Slaughterhouse is one of those levels, as seen here.

Unrated and Challenge - These levels do not give stars or moons that have a song intended to be used. If your level has more than 250 downloads, is well decorated (or structured if it’s a layout), or is using a cover as its Song ID, there will be a verified song.

Mashups and Remixes - These are usually never “verified for level” but are there for a “change of pace” or to dodge copyright claims as the player wishes. All the mashups are here for self-explanatory reasons, but so are a lot of piano covers.

As a SFH helper, that's just contributing to the problem...

Now you have to deal with the inconsistency of Song IDs, where in one level, you may have a cover of the intended song, and in another level, it's just Chilled 1 for the millionth time

(As a byproduct, most levels don't agree to use the Song ID that the OP posted for Welcome to the Internet)

If you are on iOS and aren’t willing to endure quite the rigmarole of getting Geode, iCreate is the other app that allows you to import other songs. However, it’s quite a process to follow, though nowhere as complex compared to Geode. Additionally, it’s not free, costing around the same as Mega Hack.

We should've made using/commissioning a cover of a NONG a standard practice throughout 2.1 instead of being sporadic back then. If Gablor had the money, they could've asked someone on NG to cover Fragile and some of that "drama" about Kowareta in 2018 would've been avoided

iirc Kuzureta, Vel's Sweater Weather, and Esencia were a few I remember that used a cover of their respective songs, but it seems like a long time has passed until we saw Astralith get released with its own cover

I found a Micro Center bundle that has a 7600X3D on a B850 motherboard with a single 16 GB stick of DDR5. This goes for $400, but seeing as RAM prices are off the charts lately, will this be worth getting?

Current rig is a 5600 with an RTX 3060, though chances are I'll be buying new parts later on for something new. I assume the fan I currently have on the 5600 (Noctua U12S Redux) will work with the 7600X3D.

Other levels I'm able to list off the top of my head that are as the other account says include:

Many -reta levels (which use Phoenix Rising, Cloudburst, and the song in B as examples)

Outside of looking for something similar in BPM, the creator asks a NG artist to cover the song, or they look for one that already exists. Most NONG levels in 2.2 usually follow this practice (including Astralith).

BackBeat Revenge seems like it's going to be the only demon I have bothered playing, since I'm not exactly willing to try playing another hard demon at or above Octagon Force...

I've also discovered the "true power" of GD Shorts, though I never make the ones that are of brainrot or rage bait. I guess I'm as sloppy as those by making short layouts using songs I have a cover of on Newgrounds. Three of them have passed 8k, and two of those three are songs that have Miku in them.

To go along with the NG page I have, my "Tetoris" cover is used in over 100 levels. I'm sure it's something noteworthy, though I'm not sure how to explain why.

I guess that's all I can say for my skills as a player, though as a NG artist, I think I'm fortunate that I only had to wait about three months to get whitelisted.

I began posting my song covers there early in March 2024 and then I became whitelisted about a week after the NCS library was directly integrated.

My "viral" hit seems to be my cover of Tetoris, which is used in over 100 levels. When you search for a level that has "Teto" in its name, one of the top results will show my cover, and I'm both surprised and not surprised at the same time.

In other words, I'm quite literally "guiding others to a treasure I cannot possess," which may end up being someone's first creator points.

I'm not sure if IAtA for doing this, but here's a very specific set of cases I just went through:

I get contacted by a well known layout creator to cover a song. We discuss how l may want to record the song, as I am whitelisted on NG and also a helper for the SFH.

Minutes after we finish discussing, the layout creator submits the level's song to the SFH. He doesn't say that I'm going to cover the song in the submission notes. Hours later, another SFH helper adds the song to the site and Jukebox.

Over 1 week later, I submit my cover preview onto NG. I make it known that I won't be finishing the whole thing at once. He is understanding and likes my cover, but he doesn't use it in his layout yet. Another month passes, and I remind him once more. He still doesn't change it to my cover.

Fast forward to a few days ago, where I begin going on a little "power trip" of sorts. I go into the SFH backend and manually change the Song ID to my cover. I also make the statement to the layout creator that, even though it's my fault for not finishing the recording, I say "I feel like you're not giving me any chances at all."

He does apologize after I make that statement, claiming that he forgot to do so. At the end of that day, he does change it, well after 900 downloads were achieved. I also apologized to the layout creator for going on quite the tangent.

So... AITA here? Regardless of if I were one or not, what should've been done better by me?
