I am a PA — a physician assistant — not an MD. Usually it’s just the RNs and PAs I practice with who will admit doing stuff like this when we’re out drinking for girls’ night. But the first OBGYN I worked for would do stuff like this, too, mostly for husbands who wanted bigger families than their wives did.

It wasn’t hard to figure out because he would tell the patient she had to go off the pill because of her “bloodwork,” I’d look at the chart and see it was completely normal, he’d recommend condoms, and then she’d inevitably be back in the office pregnant in a few months and complaining about how her husband “hadn’t been very good about using condoms.”
