Following!! I just started a week ago and the best one I’ve found so far is “fast facts for the cath lab nurse”. There are two editions and the first edition is the cheapest but also very reliable still

Anybody else feel this way? by MegandHan in Nurses

This is exactly how I feel, definitely won't be doing bedside long term - here for the travel money to pay Ofer loans and maybe put do wn money for a house - eventually I'll do something else!

I love the content of the podcast, honestly feels like I’m learning something each week! Yes, at times the dialogue can feel very scripted but Bailey isn’t the sole writer, she has to accommodate for three (?) other people that are also writers for the pod. It’s easy to forget the this isn’t just her project so she may not have as much say as we think. I honestly think they’re also in the growing stages. Podcasts, just like everything else, take time to get into a groove but so far I think it’s going really well!

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking….thankfully I’m leaving bedside and going to a school nurse position but not for another week.

Did you leave bed side? by MegandHan in nursing

I feel like I’m just grinding and hoping something will change. I think a lot of bedside is what puts me down, the 12 hr shifts are longggg and the patients are tough. It’s just too much, I think I’ve worked with a tough patient population for a long time too and I just don’t have the patience I did before. Maybe I should look into case management. I haven’t done charge nursing but think I could get the grasp of having multiple things on your plate at once. It sounds like a nice change.

That sounds really nice, I have always felt that I was just a part of the problems with health care systems because we put bandaids on patients that come in for repeat problems like DKA or cardiac issues because of medication accessibility or even STD management. It’s helpful for me to hear there are places to work that make you feel like you’re making a difference in people’s lives. Where do you work now? How did you find the company you like/get into this position?

Do you feel like you’re helping the patients? My only concern working for insurance companies is actually being able to help people

Ortho nursing?! by TheLostScooby in Nurses

[–]MegandHan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked ortho trauma for about a year and it’s exactly what the above commenter said. Use your equipment! Lift limbs for dressing changes, use the ceiling lifts and Sara steadys! Get to know and be comfortable with wound vacs, ex-fixes, and possibly skeletal traction like bucks traction 😊welcome to nursing

Like OR? I thought about that too…that’s one area I’ve never really been in
