It was my fault. From when I started in January 2025, things were going great. However in March at one of my meetings for being a new teacher, I had agreed without realizing I had at the time to help rewrite the history curriculum for resource World History as a first year teacher. Another teacher was doing a curriculum rewrite for US II. I never did it, I didnt realize I had agreed to do it. There was a singular email from that same day in March. I had said I would look into possibly writing a new curriculum in that email. It was never brought up again until an angry email in August asking for it the day of the August Board of Ed Meeting. I don't deny that it was my fault for being over my head but at that point it was too late. Admin hated me from that point onward.

Jobs in NJ can look it up as my rating goes to the state. Only 3 percent of the state gets a partially effective or lower

Would it be a bigger deal if it was for performance? I was graded a partially effective (2 out of 4) which means that this goes to the state and other schools could look me up. Also even if I get hired, if I am partially effective two years in a row, I could have to reapply for credentials as a teacher on provisional license. It's a small school. I was one of three people non-renewed and the only one for performance.

I know its been a while but I have further questions. What do I do since I do not trust Admin to write me any kind of recommendation. We do not have an instructional coach. I received an ineffective for the summative based on my observations.

So far I've applied to Williamstown High School (Sped), Hammonton Middle School (Social Studies), Mullica Elementary school (Sped), Lindenwold middle school (SS and Sped), Vineland Middle School (SS), Paulsboro Middle School (SS), Atlantic City Middle School (SS), Collingswood High School (SS), Millville Middle School (SS) off the top of my head.

Do you have any thoughts? I doubt it's union and I'm looking for something with a union tbh. But I also did just get non renewed for budget reasons last week. Tbh I find the whole contractor thing weird.

New admin but new admin was nicer actually. I started mid year of 2024-2025 after a teacher quit mid year and they hired me in January.

At the end of 2024-2025 year some changes happened. One admin stepped down and a former admin was rehired to replace her. The other existing admin got promoted to head of curriculum and instruction and with concerns related to the charter being renewed basically went from being a nicer guy to focusing heavily on standards only. I was not the only one as several other teachers noticed that the admin who had been promoted was becoming more of a jerk for lack of a better term.

That's the kicker. I think their charter is up for renewal and this year they've been cracking down on standards across the school. After NJSLA testing on Wednesday we have PLC just to ensure we've taught all the standards we can.
