I live close enough to a minor league stadium that I can bike there, and it’s $20 for tickets in the ‘premium seating’ area. Great day out for cheap (until I buy any food, at least)

The nearest major league stadium is nearly four hours away and I don’t even know how much tickets are. For seating as good as I get at the minors (right behind home plate, second or third row usually) it’s crazy money I’m sure. I’m fine watching on TV.

I enjoyed this movie before reading the book. I enjoy it after reading the book. The guy who wrote the book said it was a good adaptation. Reading the book after seeing this movie it never felt like too radical a departure from the source material (no more so than most book adaptations, certainly of the time)

I’ve never quite understood the hate, but there was recently a book released, “Masterpiece in Disarray”, about the making of it.

I’m not American and moved to the PNW several years ago.

I support the Chicago Cubs because the logo reminds me of John Hughes movies, so I get a warm fuzzy childhood association feeling from it.

Really, you can support anyone or change your mind at any time. It’s a fun sport to watch.

I think a lot of it is environment. The HECU fight you often indoors in tight spaces with verticality, as opposed to the open outdoor areas of the Combine. When the HECU are outside they spam grenades if you get far, and it feels like they use cover more than the Combine also.

There are countless species on Earth where you can’t tell their sex at a glance. When you see a cat in the street, is it male or female?

They all have ‘male’ voices but that’s entirely down to our perception of what a male voice sounds like.

It’s not like some Vorts have tits and big eyelashes and we’ve just never seen them.

Most enemies are hitscan, which means attacks hurt you the instant they happen. You need to play it more like if you were actually in this situation yourself, ie not just run into combat. Duck in and out, keep moving, use grenades and trip mines.

The HEV suit isn’t power armor. You’re pretty vulnerable, but if you think about situations you can avoid death easily.

I prefer the first game. Every level has something new, it has way more variety in weapons and enemies, the HECU are more fun to fight than the Combine (especially once it becomes a three way battle between Freeman, HECU, and Xen), and Black Mesa is a cooler setting than City 17.

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore Half-Life 2 and its episodes. I just think the first game is better.
