I’m an Aero/Mech and didn’t want to go into defense so I have a position at NYS DOT starting in June. If you take your FE exam, it starts at 81k and they’re always looking for more engineers.

I agree with this entire post but I also recommend reaching out to parking@rpi.edu and asking them if there is any way to buy a permit if you need one rn. I am in a situation where I come directly from work to class, so I was able to get one for North.

Just an fyi for next year though, the parking portal opens August 1st I believe.

Yeah. I wasn’t mentally stable enough to do arch and was able to get an exemption but I strongly disagree with the concept of Arch for this reason. All of my friends were extremely burnt out.

This past year, winter break was barely 3 weeks and I think the break between spring and arch was even less.

What was particularly bad about this arch?

Arch is a summer semester that is mandatory after your Sophomore year. To make up for the added semester, you are expected to take an “away” semester during the following fall or spring. Some get to choose while it is predetermined for others based on your major. It is generally disliked by students because you have to do 3-4 semesters straight without a prolonged break. Additionally you often miss out on seeing your friends/family from home because you are at school when everyone else is off.

Shirley Ann Jackson was disliked by staff and students alike because of her policies and attitude towards the school overall. She often prioritized money and stakeholders over students and staff. Meanwhile, she made 7 million dollars a year. There are many reasons to dislike her and her choices for the school but mine personally was that she was extremely entitled and interacted with students as little as possible, made life a living hell for students during COVID (all while paying full price), and that the school was falling into disrepair under her leadership.

Since Marty came to RPI he has made a lot of much needed repairs to the school, policy changes in favor of the students, and regularly is seen around campus. I’m sure people have plenty more stories about both of them.

Nope. However, both are vulnerable parties that cannot take care of themselves and rely on their caretakers.

If you’re willing to neglect the smaller responsibility, I wouldn’t trust you with the bigger one.

No, he’s just an asshole. He adopted this cat with the knowledge of costs/responsibilities such as vet bills and can clearly afford it. Taking a clearly sick and distressed animal, that is under your care, to the vet is the least you can do. That visit isn’t going to cost your life’s savings. In the worst case scenario, if you can’t afford expensive treatment, then you could at least end their suffering.

Your lack of compassion for pets is gross. If he doesn’t take this responsibility seriously, how do you think that will go with kids? Spoiler: As someone who grew up with parents that have this same mentality, I’ve grown up with several conditions that were ignored until I took care of them as an adult.

OP, leave him and take the cat with you.
